A post office was established in 1874, and the name was changed to McFarland in 1893. In 1910, J.P. At this point, they realized that there was still much toexplore and set out on foot again in search of gold fever! Eventually, Mcfarland returned home with a fortune worth over $100 million Dollars! This success allowed him to build himself up into one of the most powerful men in early California politics. He also helped start several important businesses and serve as governor of both Nevada and Oregon during his career as a manof influence.
