The Menifee National Guard was organized on December 1, 1941. The first unit to be mobilized was Company C of the 100th Infantry Regiment from Menifee. The unit was ordered to report to Camp Huachuca, Arizona for training on January 5, 1942. On February 14, 1942, the 100th Infantry Regiment rendezvoused with Company G of the 9th Airborne Division at Fort Sill Oklahoma Territory in preparation for deployment overseas. On March 3rd, 1942 the battalion reported back to camp and boarded transports bound for Australia. Upon arrival at Rabaul they were demobilized and sent home. In 1946 there were plans to re-enact the Battle of Bunker Hill that took place while company A of the 120th Infantry Regiment was stationed at Yuma Proving Ground Arizona during World War II as part of a commemoration program sponsored by Bendix Corporation who manufactured aviation gasoline products then in production in California. However these plans never came through but insteadCompany A returned home to Menifee where they continue nostalgic displays of military equipment and memorabilia today at their barracks located just off Highway 16 near town hall
