Fresh roasted coffee is a centuries old tradition in Mill Valley, California. The first beans were roasted in the early 1800s by Gabriel Garcia Marquez and his father, Juan de la Cruz. In 1906, Will Rogers drank coffee from a pot he had just bought at the mill. Since that time, Mill Valley has been known for its roasts and cafes located throughout the town. Today, there are over 30 cafes in Mill Valley that offer fresh roasted coffee. Roasters include: Panama-Pacific Coffee Company (PPC), Blue Bottle Coffee (BBDO), Four Barrel Coffee (FBC), and Deer Park Coffee Co. (DPK). The most popular roasts are Ethiopian Kaldi Biteshots, Dutch Oudrood, Sumatra Sulawesi Java II, Swiss Chardons Gruner Veltliner and Robusta Arabica. The popularity of fresh roasted coffee has led to some interesting historical developments. For example, in 2003 Dong Fang Brewing opened up shop in Mill Valley with their own rotating selection of fresh roasted coffees. This was the first time that any mill town had its own brewery and it quickly became one of the biggest drawcards for tourists visiting Mill Valley every year. Additionally, Blue Bottle Coffee started providing their own roast experience at their cafes starting in 2006 which helped solidify their reputation as one of the top roasters in town. Mill Valley is a small town in central California, United States, located about 25 miles northeast of San Francisco. The population was 7,869 at the 2010 census. Mill Valley is home to the University of California, Berkeley and its adjacent campuses of UC Santa Cruz and UC Davis. The Ohlone people occupied what is now Mill Valley for centuries before European colonialism arrived in the early 18th century. In 1795, part of Rancho San Rafael de Asis was given to José Altman by Governor Manuel Nieto as part of the land grant system designed to encourage settlement in Alta California. In 1851, John Sutter began construction on his new mill complex on Buffalo Creek near present-day Mill Valley. The first two floors were used for storage while the remainder became the mill's offices and workrooms. By 1863, Sutter had created a named street in memory of his father – "John Sutter Boulevard". By 1870, water demand from mills had increased so much that Sutter built another mill on Hetch Hetchy Dam Road just north of town to provide additional water supplies; this mill continued operations until 1959 when it was closed due to issues with flooding caused by heavy rains during wintertime. Sutters’ successor – George Eastman – made further developments at his old factory on Castle Rock Drive in 1888 into what would become Eastman Kodak Company’s main photo plant until it relocated its operations to Rochester, New York in 2007. After World War II, defense contractor Northrop Grumman Corporation moved its research and development activities from Los Angeles County into Mill Valley starting in 1951; these activities eventually led Northrop Grumman Corporation to create Northrop Grumman Ventures which bought Kodak's photographic assets worldwide including thosequartered in Rochester NY from2007-2013). After years of growth within local industries like health care and technology both large companies have left their footprints throughout today's community including Wells Fargo (since 2010) & Hewlett Packard Enterprise which has an office campus located next door since 2002 which also houses Haas School Of Business (now Haas Institute) which joined UC Berkeley after being founded by Nobel laureate Lawrence Summers back whenUC Berkeley still functioned as a private institution under private management overseen by individuals who were immune from outside regulation). Throughout all this there are continue efforts underway or completed such as $120 million pledged towards infrastructure renewal called “Valley Forward” announced last year by then Mayor Gavin Newsom who noted that “This isn't going away anytime soon” . A recent example would be startup accelerator Sand Hill Ventures having opened up shop across the street from HPE back in 2015 . In fact, some of the earliest coffee trees may have been in Java. The Andes are a very rich source of ground coffee, and it was here that early roasters began to develop their skills. The first Europeans to see fresh roasted coffee were Portuguese sailors on an expedition in 1498. They brought back seeds from Java, and soon thereafter these beans became popular among European Roasters. Brazilian Coffee Roasters arrived later, but they did not have as much success with fresh roasted beans because the flavor was too strong for many people’s taste buds. In 1968, an American company named Peet's introduced a new type of roast called “double-roasted” which was made by roasting two different types of bean together at once. This allowed for a more complex and balanced flavor than what could be achieved with just one type of roast. Today, most roasts are either single- or double-roasted – making them perfect for both personal preference and commercial purposes!

Mill Valley is a small town in the Central Valley of California, United States. It was established in 1887 by James W. May and his brother-in-law, Hiram Lodgepole. The name comes from the mill that was built there in 1885. Mill Valley is located about 41 miles east of Fresno and 36 miles south of Bakersfield. The mill was built on the banks of the Mill River, which flows through Mill Valley. The mill produced flour for local markets and also exported flour to other parts of America. In 1893, the mill burned down, but it reopened two years later as a cotton gin with new equipment. The current mill building was completed in 1907 and it has been used ever since as a commercial center for Mill Valley. Mill Valley is home to many interesting historical artifacts including a clock tower that was built in 1895 and dedicated by President Grover Cleveland; an old sawmill; a blacksmith shop; a garage; and several residences dating back to the 1800s. There are also several parks located within walking distance of Mill Valley including: Beechwood Park, Maple Avenue Park, North Park, South Park (the oldest park in Mill valley), Westpark Meadows, Mineral Creek Glen Preserve, & University Village (a community development project).
