Since the establishment of the national guard in 1934, Mill Valley has been a proud and patriotic community. The history of the National Guard in Mill Valley is a Ducks Unlimited Historical Society collection that spans more than sixty years. The first unit to be organized in Mill Valley was Company C, 116th Infantry Regiment (National Guard), which was activated on October 9, 1934. The company was later redesignated as Company E, 116th Infantry Regiment (National Guard). On November 1, 1935, Company F was also activated and assigned to Company C. On May 10, 1941, Companies A and G were re-activated and assigned to Company D of the 114th Infantry Regiment (National Guard) for duty during World War II. These companies served together until January 15, 1945 when they were discharged from military service at Camp Pendleton into civilian life. During World War II there were many changes in the way National Guardsmen were mobilized and trained. In February 1943 Companies F & G were re-organized into two battalions under Battalion Commander Captain John J. O’Reilly Jr., 2nd battalion being designated as “A” battalion while 3rd battalion became known as “B” battalion; this caused some confusion since both battalions had different names but their mission remained essentially the same: guarding important military installations throughout Northern California while on active duty with other units of the United States Army Central Command during World War II In 1944 Major General Leslie W. Krueger relieved Colonel John Pilling as Commanding Officer of both battalions effective September 8th; however these new organizations did not take effect until after hostilities ended on August 14th 1945 when all units reverted back to their original organization(s). However it should be noted that A & B Battalions continued to serve concurrently along with other elements of United States Army Ninth Air Force untilactivate within Ninth Air Force itself effective December 11st 1945 . This change followed upon resolution by Congress authorizing command responsibility for operational control over all reserve components including National Guardsmen providing training during war time . From then through 1946 there would be no further changes in how National Guardsmen were organized or deployed throughout California; however due to its wartime activation status A & B Battalion continued serving concurrently along with other elements of Ninth Air Force untilactivation within Ninth Air Force itself effective December 11st 1945 . As mentioned earlier these changes did not take effect immediately following cessation of hostilities so certain individuals may have still been active within their respective unit’s organization that day- such as Captain O’Reilly who served as Battalion Commander until his retirement in 1951 It should also be noted that although most members of a unitactivated during WWII went onto serve thruout peacetime era also numerous individuals remainactively enlisted or attached componentsof United States Army Reserve Component Active Duty currentlyservingin various locations throughout California including Mill Valley

Mill Valley, California is a small town located in the Central Valley of California. The population was 6,887 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Fresno-Madera-Bakersfield metropolitan area. Mill Valley is a bedroom community for Fresno and Bakersfield. The first European to explore what is now Mill Valley was Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo on October 8, 1542. He named it San Miguel de los Libres because he thought it would be an excellent place to winter over due to its warm weather and rich soil. The name "Mill Valley" was given to the valley by General Mariano Arguelles who called it La Ventana because he saw high mountains in one direction and a flowing river in another direction. In 1887, John Sutter founded Sutter's Fort in present-day downtown Mill Valley after he discovered gold near Yuba City. With his discovery came numerous pioneers looking for new land to settle including brothers George Cushing and James Irvine who founded UC Berkeley and developed nearby Alameda County into one of the most heavily populated regions in North America during that time period with large numbers of Contra Costa County residents coming through its ports of entry for work on the Gold Rush eraology (1848-1851). The early days were difficult for Mill Valley as there were few roads or trails available so traffic had to be redirected around hills and other obstacles. By 1902, however, regular buses arrived from Fresno providing transportation services unavailable before then such as shopping malls, movie theaters, hospitals, factories etc.. As more people moved into Mill Valley, subdivisions were built which included many homesites overlooking both valleys while still being able to enjoy easy access to all aspects of life within minutes’ driving distance. The mill town of Mill Valley, California is a historic community located in San Mateo County, California. The community was founded by the Northern Pacific Railroad in 1887 and was originally named North Millvale. It changed its name to Mill Valley in 1898 after the discovery of gold at the nearby South Mill Creek. The mill town became a commercial center for the surrounding area and remains an important agricultural center today. The first mills in Mill Valley were built by John Sutter and his partner George Garvey on the south side of South Mill Creek. By 1901, there were ten mills in operation with a total capacity of 1,500 tons per day. In 1903, Northern Pacific merged with other Central Pacific Railroads and all ten mills became part of the new system under the name Pacific Coast Railroad (PCR). The mill town continued to grow as a result of this merger and by 1907 had reached its peak population with over 5,000 people. However, during World War I both PCR and RRJ were taken over by the US military for use as troop transport supply trains. As a result, mill production slowed down and eventually ceased altogether during World War I. However, due to their importance within the local economy post-warMill Valley struggled to regain its former glory until 1955 when it regained full railroad service again under PRR management. During World War IImill valley became an important munitions plant providing materials for American forces stationed overseas. Output increased from 2 million lbs/year early in 1945 to 4 million lbs/year by late 1945 before abruptly dropping back below 2 million lbs/year due largely to wartime shortages caused by Japan’s invasion of Pearl Harbor that same year. After hostilities endedaffliction increased between United States forces occupying Japanand local producers which ledto extensive reclamation efforts undertaken at various points along South Mills creek watershed resultingin extensive agricultural land conversion including establishmentof large tractsof orchardsand vineyards-. In recent yearsmill valley has seen renewed development as an upscale residential neighborhood with exclusive access to private schools such as Stanford University and Kaiser Permanente Medical Center
