The primary industries that have thrived in Mill Valley are agriculture, manufacturing, and service sectors such as health care and education. Agricultural production has included hay, fruits/veggies, cottonseed oil, beans/fruits, potatoes and other vegetables; manufacturing has included textiles (textile factories such as Singer Sewing Machine Company), automobiles (Chrysler Corporation), appliances (Bel Koehler Electric Appliances), engineering tools (Thinwall Tool & Manufacturing Co.), furniture (Wright-Patterson Furniture Inc.), food processing (Pelican Foods Incorporated), and pharmaceuticals (Lilly Laboratories).
