Millbrae is a small town in Northern California, located on the eastern edge of the San Francisco Bay Area. It borders Mountain View to the east, Fremont to the west and Livermore to the north. The population was 10,693 at the 2010 census. Millbrae is known for its agriculture and wine industry. The dominant employer in Millbrae is Alliant Techsystems, a subsidiary of Intel Corporation and one of Silicon Valley's largest employers. The first Europeans to visit Millbrae were Spanish missionaries in 1776 who named it "Mendoza" after their leader Gerónimo Mendoza. A year later, Captain James Cook visited Millbrae and made note of its impressive views from an overlook on Mount Diablo which he called "Grossa Mesa". In 1848, Gold was discovered at Sutter's Fort on Nob Hill within mill boundaries; this led to increased activity in the area around Millbrae as miners began seeking gold nuggets from nearby hillsides. In 1859, John Cranch formed a partnership with Wm Harshaw & Bros., merchants in nearby Fremont, to open what would become known as Cranch's Market Place near present-day Union Street and First Avenue (now Geary Boulevard). This store became one of several key early staples of the town economy including groceries, hardware, liquor sales and other basic needs such as transportation and waste disposal services. By 1870 all commerce had moved away from downtown due to competition from new mills built along Geary Boulevard north of town limits by Jno Pogue & Sons Coal Company Limited. A post office was established at Millbrae on November 12th, 1872; it continued until 1915 when it was replaced by an Aeronautics Branch Office established at Moffett Field Airport adjacent to Alliant Techsystems headquarters building now known as Hertz Pavilion hotel/residence complex). During World War II local war production produced munitions for both allies and Axis forces; examples include Lockheed Martin F-105 Thunderchief Jet fighters used by United States Air Forces Ninth Air Force during Operation Overlord; Boeing B-29 Superfortress bombers used by Second World War Japan Strategic Bombing Offensive against Hiroshima City; Douglas EC-121 Constellation air research planes flown over North America during Alaska Airlines Flight 971 disaster that killed all 97 passengers and crew on board en route from Anchorage airport (Alaska)to Fairbanks (Alaska) on July 16th 1959 It should be noted that any discussion about American or Japanese military activities or installations during World War II must take into account information provided courtesy of historian Dr.-Ingo Kloibert who has written extensively about topics related thereto including those discussed herein . The United States Air Force Deployed Gift History is a unique and long-standing tradition within the USAF. The gift history began in 1947, when the USAF's first branch of logistics, the Logistics Command, initiated a program to send Christmas presents to its service members. This program was known as "Operation Santa Claus". By 1951, Operation Santa Claus had become an annual event that united all branches of the USAF. Since then, every year on December 15th through 17th, different branches of the USAF participate in the Deployed Gift History Program. Each Branch sends gifts to their airmen and their families stationed abroad. These gifts range from small items like candy canes or coffee mugs to larger items like cars or homes. The goal of this program is to show appreciation for servicemen and women who have dedicated their lives to our country; it also helps keep military families connected during these difficult times. This year, we are proud to present t he Deployed Gift History Awards for 2018. These awards are designed specifically for air force spouses and children who have made extraordinary contributions to their branch of service over the past year! Winners will be determined by a jury composed of representatives from each branch of service - including generals and admirals - as well as representatives from our civilian partners at home (parents/guardians). We want to recognize those airmen and women who have put themselves above everything else in order serve their nation with distinction!

Millbrae was founded in 1887 by George and Clara Millbrae. The Millbraes were the first white farmers to settle in Millbrae, and they are considered the founders of the town. The mill was built on the banks of the River Delta, which is where it still stands today. It was originally used for flour production, but it soon became a major center for local trade. The mill continued to be run by the Millbraes until 1951, when they sold it to the American Tobacco Company. After that, milling operations ceased and Millbrae gradually reverted back to its rural roots. However, a few years later, things changed again when American Tobacco went bankrupt and sold most of its holdings in California to British Petroleum. This led to a period of intense development for Millbrae as both an industrial and commercial center. In recent years, however,millring has largely diminished as a majorstay of local life.
