Millbrae is a small town in the southern San Joaquin Valley of California, United States. It is located on the Millbrae Reservoir, about 20 miles (30 km) southeast of Fresno and 30 miles (48 km) northeast of Bakersfield. The townsite was first settled in 1856 by men working for the Rancho de los Pinos Mexican Land Company. The mill was built in 1885 and remained in operation until 1984. The mill closed because of pollution from its manufacturing processes and it has since been converted into an agricultural research center.
