The history of guns in Millbrae, California dates back to the early 1800s. At that time, the area was a Native American reservation and firearms were not allowed on the property. However, there were already several gunsmiths in town who built rifles and pistols for use by the local Indians. eventually, these gunsmiths became known as "gunners." One of these gunners, James Winchester, started selling his firearms in 1824. By 1829, Winchester had opened a store in Millbrae specifically for selling handguns. In 1849, Winchester moved his store to what is now the corner of First and I Streets. From this location, he began sales of shotguns and rifles to individuals and businesses throughout Millbrae. In 1896-97, Winchester donated a rifle toMillbrae High School which has been used ever since as part of their school shootings memorial program

Millbrae is a small town in Siskiyou County, California, United States. The population was 1,074 at the 2010 census. Millbrae is located on then Peninsula of Siskiyou County and is adjacent to the towns of Winters and Auburn. Millbrae's ZIP code is 95660. A post office called Millbrae had been in operation since 1885. The community was named after James H. Millburn, an agent for Southern Pacific Railway who purchased land here in 1887. The mill was built along the banks of the Klamath River by local farmers in 1892-93; it began operating in 1895 and continued to produce flour until 1903 when its production was discontinued due to World War I regulations affecting military supplies. The mill closed again between 1924 and 1928 because of low demand for flour during Prohibition; however, it reopened as a radio station in 1933 under the ownership of WQXR (AM). It remained an AM station until 1949 when it became KNBR (FM). In 1964, KNBR moved its transmitter site from Auburn to Millbrae; it concurrently changed its call sign to KIFM (FM). In 1998, KIFM became KRON-FM and currently airs a full service CHR format under that name. In early 2006, mill owner Golden Grain announced that they were closing their doors effective January 1st due to economic conditions within their industry which included plummeting prices for corn protein powder caused by lack of demand from consumers following Hurricane Katrinaeyaeorismically damaging storms throughout much of2005-2006 causing extensive property damage including fires at various mills across central California.. Golden Grain cited current market conditions as well as high labor costs associated with maintaining such large scale operations as being too expensive for small businesses outside of major metropolitan areas like San Francisco or Los Angeles - both markets where Golden Grain has significant presence - leading them to close down all but two grinding plants statewide effective January 1st 2006 yet maintain all other operations including sales/ marketing staffs located throughout central California while consolidating those into new facilities elsewhereabouts..
