In the early 1920s, a small group of coffee entrepreneurs in Milpitas decided to start their own coffee business. The founders were Harry and Louise Pershing, who named their business The Coffee House. In 1921, they opened a small shop on Commercial Street in Milpitas. They started off with two cups of coffee per day for their customers. Over time, they grew to provide more than twenty-five cups of coffee each day to local businesses and individuals. The Coffee House was an important part of the community because it provided affordable caffeine drinks for people in need. It also promoted literacy by providing children with access to education while they shopped at the store. In 1932, The Coffee House closed its doors due to lack of business income but it left an lasting legacy on Milpitas culture and economy.

In 1912, Milpitas became a part of Sacramento County. The first coffeehouse in Milpitas was the American Coffee House which opened in 1912. It was followed by the First National Café which opened in 1914 and then moved to its current location in 1916. The Second National Café also opened in 1916 and closed in 1978.
Milpitas is a city in San Mateo County, California, United States. The population was 25,641 as of the 2010 census. It is the fourth-largest city in California after Los Angeles and San Francisco. Milpitas is located on the eastern shore of San Pablo Bay, about 15 miles (24 km) northeast of downtown San Francisco and about 20 miles (32 km) east of Palo Alto. The region that now encompasses Milpitas was first settled by Native Americans before becoming a part of Alta California under Spanish rule. In 1851, the town was founded by three brothers from Dublin,Ireland who named it for their ranch in Contra Costa County: "Milpas" means "hills" in Spanish and "tomas" means ranch or farmstead. The town rapidly grew because it was accessible to railroads and became an important center for agricultural production. By 1903, Milpitas had a population of 508 people; by 1910 it had grown to 2,387 people. In 1916, the University of California at Berkeley moved to Berkeley Heights on then unincorporated land near downtown Milpitas; UC Berkeley left town soon afterward when its affiliated colleges and universities were merged into the newly created UC system. In 1998 City Councilmember Claudia Wright proposed that Berkeley become home again to one of Northern California's only public universities while also preserving much historic district including most notably Hastings Hall which still houses many pieces from UC Berkeley's days as an undergraduate college before its merger with UC Davis). Ultimately this proposal failed but helped lead to passage of Measure B which funded campus renovation projects such as restoration OFHCS buildings and renovation/remodelingof Curry Library which resulted in now being one ofBerkeley's oldest collegiate institutions continuously operational since 1912! Riding on momentum generated by City Councilmember Wright’s proposal local businesses began planning their own version dubbed “Milpitas Station” redevelopment plan with plans for mixed use housing including retail space along with office space for small businesses etc., however due diligence revealed that there existed no market place adjacent to or within walking distance from both existing commercial districts currently housing over 10 thousand residents plus potential new development going up next door totaling an estimated $200 million+ over 10 years! This lacklustre response caught community activists attention who decided they needed more than just another “name change” so they convened what would come to be known as the “Citywide Bloc” meeting where they aired their grievances directly to top leadership at Google Inc., Facebook Inc., Apple Inc., Microsoft Corp., Oracle Corporation et al resulting in various deals being struck between these large technology companies representatives – all without any input from Mayor Greg Stanton himself! Finally after months long front row seats during Sacramento Mayor Darrell Issa’s state visit his motorcade drove through our town giving hope that perhaps something could finally happen following years worth wasted breath…… However despite numerous attempts throughout 2016 & 2017 we have yetto receive any investment beyond promises made previously like some type Of environmental assessment & permits then nothing has materialized…. Perhaps things will change with closer look at upcoming real estate market conditions? We shall see…..

Milpitas was founded in 1887 by George W. Goodwin and James H. Coulter as the small town of Milpitas, California. The name is derived from the Spanish word "militar" meaning "fortress." By 1888, Milpitas had a population of only 50 people and consisted of just a few buildings on a rural stretch of land about 20 miles east of San Francisco. In 1903, Milpitas amalgamated with the adjacent city of Redwood City to form one municipality. In 1916, during World War I, Milpitas became an important military base for the United States Army as it served as an ammunition depot and training area for troops stationed in both Europe and America. After the war ended, the base was decommissioned but continued to be used for other purposes until it closed in 1978. The history of Milpitas has been dominated by its agricultural economy which has produced crops such as grapes, almonds, apples, onions and other vegetables since at least 1887 when Goodwin and Coulter sent their first shipment of potatoes to Redwood City from their farm downriver. Agricultural production continues to be one of the mainstay industries today with over 100 businesses based in Milpitas employing over 1,000 residents. In addition to agriculture there are also some manufacturing companies based in town including Raytheon International (formerly Hughes Aircraft) which manufactures munitions; Ford Motor Company (now Ford Mexico) which produces vehicles; General Electric Company (GEICO) which manufactures electric equipment; Magna Carta Paper Mill (MCPM), a leading paper producer that still exists today producing card stock and related products; Hewlett-Packard Co., Ltd., one of Silicon Valley’s largest technology companies; Xerox Palo Alto Research Laboratories (XRPL),founded in 1969 responsible for developing early computer systems; Innosilicon Incorporated produces silicon chips for cell phones and other electronic devices; among many others.
