The Air Force deployed gift history in Modesto, California in the late1950s and 1960s. Gifts from the Air Force were often given to friends and family members as a way to show support for military service. The gifts helped to make friends and FAMILY MEMBERS WHO SERVED DUTifully- some of whom still maintain strong relationships with the Air Force today. In 1957, Lt. Col. James Pendergast organized a team of servicemen from the Fresno County Sheriff's Department to contribute tags to gift histories sent back by USAF members stationed overseas. These taggers were responsible for tagging gifts arriving at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas. The initiative was successful and led to the development of a program that shipped gift histories worldwide, including Japan, Korea, Germany and Italy. This gave servicemen an opportunity to send back pictures of their loved ones while they were stationed overseas- something that is still shared today between families all over the United States! In 1966, Majors John Welch (left) and Don Kretschmer started sending out thank you notes with pictures of their kids when they received a present from someone associated with the USAF through Gift History! Before long, thank you cards became common among USAF members around the world who had done something special for their loved ones during deployments! It wasn't until later in that decade that thank you cards began being sent directly from members' homes instead of via USPS - this allowed more flexibility when it came time to post them online or distribute them through social media! In 2013 alone, there were over 9 million thank you cards sent by service members worldwide through Gift History!!! Today, GiftHistory continues its legacy as an essential part of military family relations Worldwide!!!

The Modesto Air National Guard detachment, which is part of the 9th Wing at McClellan Air Force Base, deployed a gift to the city of Modesto on Feb. 3. The detachment's captain and commander presented a plaque with an inscription in Spanish reading "Grateful acknowledgment for all the love and support given us."

The first organized air forces were formed during World War I in order to help allies fight against Germany. At its peak in 1919, the American Air Force had around 100 planes stationed in Europe. During World War II, however, America’s military involvement became more pronounced. In 1941, America mobilized its Air Forces under General George C Marshall to support Britain and France in their war against Nazi Germany. This aerial campaign known as Operation Overlord resulted in over 270 aircraft being lost between England and France alone. Despite these losses, America continued to send Gifts throughout World War II; most notably sending items such as fighter planes and tanks abroad for use by allies. In 1945, after Japan had surrendered at WORLD WAR II’s end, many Americans believed that Japan should have been punished for its role in warfare – instead, they awarded Emperor Hirohito with an honorary award called The Golden Globe Award which recognized his “ faithfully performed services to our Nation” (Foley). This event served as a reminder of America’s commitment towards world peace and helped solidify postwar international relations between America and her allies. Since 1945, the United States Air Force has undergone several changes which have shaped it into today’s powerful organization. First wasAir National Guard service which was activated on 1 separate day in 1947 from Reserve Components of Army Aviation (Reserve Airmen). Since then there have been numerous conversions of wings/ Fleets into Active duty USAF Units: currently there are more than 550 active duty USAF squadrons divided into wings/ Fleets (Albright). Second wasthe introduction of jet fighters into USAF operations following THE FIRST JET FLIGHT BY AN AMERICAN AIR FORCE SQUADRON- Experimental Aircraft unit EAGLE DOGS experimental program using Bell X-1 prototype jet fighter jet airplane flying from Edwards AFB California on July 16th .
