In 1795, when Java was annexed by Holland, some Dutchmen decided to set up a small colony here called Batavia (now Jakarta). They started growing tea bushes near their plantation so that they could produce tea too! By 1824, Batavia had become a city with over 200 000 inhabitants! The British East India Company took over control of Indonesia from the Netherlands in 1826 and they began growing vanilla trees too which gave them a taste for creamier coffees than the Dutch did! So from then on until 1895 when Java was returned to Holland as part of the Indonesian Republic system under president Sukarno after years of struggle by nationalists (the Riau National Congress), Java always produced high quality Indonesian coffees – some say better than any other country’s coffees!

Modesto, California is a city in the US state of California. It is located in the East Bay region of San Francisco County and is one of the most populous cities in Northern California. As of the 2010 census, it had a population of 245,161. The name "modesto" means "to be gentle" or "not to make too much noise." In 1849, John C. Fremont founded what would become Modesto after spending time in Angel Island and other small towns in Northern California. He named the town for his friend and mentor General Montgomery Blair who had fought at Genoa and later served as United States Ambassador to Mexico City. On January 1, 1850, Modesto became an incorporated town with a population of 21 residents under Mayor John Hargrave. The first post office was established at 518 Main Street on February 12th with Samuel Morse as its first mail carrier. By 1855, Modesto had two newspapers: The Californian (founded 1855) andThe Republican (founded 1861). In 1863–64, when Governor Pio Pico's administration created four new counties within San Francisco County - Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin and Santa Clara Counties - Modesto became part of Oakland Township within Alameda County because it lay east of Highway 24 on the borders between Oakland Township and Contra Costa County only then did it have its own post office (711 Main Street). In 1916-17 Modesto built its first water system which supplied all populated areas within city limits with potable water from wells drilled by William Fenton until 1923 when a large well was encountered that led to more than $100 million worth of investment in municipal water systems throughout Southern California In 1957-58 Jerry Brown became governor; during his term he doubled funding for public education including creating teacher residency programs so Californians could teach English language skills to students from rural areas; also he raised taxes on alcohol sales making it one of only a few states where this occurred during his tenure In 1970s there were several fires that destroyed many homes but no injuries were reported
