Modesto, California is a city in the San Joaquin Valley of northern California. The population was 131,851 at the 2010 census. It is the second most populous city in Stanislaus County after Turlock. Modesto has been inhabited by various cultures for over 10,000 years and its name means "humble and peaceful."
