When the United States became a country, there were no real armies. The first militia was raised in 1776 and disbanded after three years. The Second Continental Army was formed in 1777 but it also disbanded after three years. The first real army was raised in 1846 when California became a state. The U.S.Army decided to give out gifts to the military members of California as part of their new state government’s gift policy. This policy began on July 4th, 1846 and lasted until 1861 when California seceded from the United States and got its own military forces under the command of General rutherford Buell. The U.SArmy gave out guns, clothing, horses, and other items to various military members throughout California during this time period. Some soldiers even received furniture such as beds and chests for their barracks! There is no record of how many items were given out but it’s safe to say that a lot of them were used or forgotten over time. In 1861, General Buell moved his army westward into Mexico City so he could take on the Mexican government there instead of waiting for an American attack from Arizona Territory which had been threatened by Santa Anna’s forces since February 1st that year (1860). general buell's move into Mexico City finally put an end to the rule by Porfirio Diaz that America could never control Mexico because Diaz was not legitimized as Emperor by both Europe and Russia at that point in time (1861). After takingMexico City, general buell turned his attention back eastward towards Sacramento where he would eventually launch his assault on Richmond pursuant to orders from President Abraham Lincoln on April 14th 1862 known as “March On Sacramento” or “April Fool's Day” due to all the hype created around it leading up to it- primarily due to public opinion being influenced by newspapers like Harper's Weekly at that point in time who were running ads across their pages for what would soon become known as "Lincoln's April Fools' War." The unit was formed on December 12th, 1851 when the United States Congress authorized the formation of a military organization to protect the frontiers of California. The first units were mustered into service on January 14th, 1852 and served throughout the Mexican-American War. After the war ended, many troops from Monrovia recruited for service in various campaigns in western America. In 1856, General John C. Fremont called for all male citizens over twenty-one years old to serve in an armed force and within two years, Monrovia had its own military company with a total strength of seventy-five men. After serving in Kansas during the Indian Wars and during reconstruction following Reconstructionism in America, General Fremont ordered that all troops be disbanded on May 29th, 1868 because he believed that society had changed so much since those times. However, many troops from Monrovia reformed and reorganized themselves as part of various armies throughout America before being disbanded again at the end of World War I on October 31st 1918.
Monrovia, California is a city in the state of California, United States. It is located on the bank of the Sacramento River, about 25 miles (40 km) south-southwest of Sacramento. The population was 58,035 as of the 2010 census. Monrovia is one of three cities in California that are not incorporated municipalities and are instead under direct gubernatorial jurisdiction. The first Europeans to visit what is now Monrovia were Father Francisco Gomez and Father José de Asís on February 11 and 12, 1769 respectively. They named it Los Angeles after King George III of Great Britain who had granted them land near Mission San Gabriel Arcángel in 1768. On November 3, 1846, Don Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla gave up his claim to all but 2% of Mexico for $10 thousand dollars towards building a new Mexican capital at Monterey County’s current site; this was known as Rancho Monterey. A group led by Captain John Sutter reached Monterey on November 8th from Stockton with American flags flying and soon founded an Anglo-Californian town called Vallejo upon arriving back at their ship Navidad on December 14th. Upon its founding they named their town after General Antonio López de Santa Anna who had been overthrown by Maximilian I of Mexico two years earlier during the Mexican War of Independence. With little industry or population growth until around World War II when monorail service brought people into town center via downtown streets rather than traveling away from it like before then there wasn’t much going on apart from a few small businesses until Interstate 5 came through in 1958 which drove most people out looking for jobs outside the city limits then again since monorails stopped running many residents returned over time making Monrovia one Of The Most Active Cities In California!
