Montclair, California is home to the Montclair Air Force Base and also hosts the United States Military Academy at West Point. The base was established in 1941 and has since grown to be one of the largest in the United States. WWII saw an incredible amount of aircraft produced by American manufacturers at various locations across America; however, nowhere did this production activity reach such heights as at Wright- Patterson AFB during wartime! In fact, from 1945 through 1949 alone, American manufacturers produced more than 350 different types of airplanes! Montclair, California is a small town in Alameda County, California, United States located on the East Bay of San Francisco. The population was 23,824 at the 2010 census. Montclair is one of the most diverse towns in California with a large Asian and Filipino population. Montclair is also home to America's second largest dog park, as well as several churches and schools including Montclair Daycare and Montclair High School. The first permanent settler in what would become Montclair was John Day who arrived in 1795. He founded a trading post on the site which he named after his friend, Sir George Washington Carver. A year later Nathaniel Webb, an American Revolutionary War veteran and founder of Newark, purchased land east of Day's post for $1 per acre (although there was no market for such land). Webb built a house here and called it "Newark". In 1802 he sold part of his holdings to James Witherspoon who renamed it "Monterey". In 1827 Witherspoon sold all his interest in the town to Jno. Hinkley Jr., who built him a mansion here that still stands today known as Hinkley House. In 1873 Charles Evans Hughes purchased 640 acres (250 hectares) northeast of downtown from Jno. Hinkley Jr., becoming one of the largest landowners in town history; Hughes named his new township after himself – Hughes Valley – though some sources claim that he may have been given this name by General Harrison Gray Otis who had lived nearby during the Mexican-American War and named many local hillsafter officers under his command including José Félix de la Peña y Ulloa y Costilla: “Higgins valley” for Josefina Higgins (1814-80), “Gray Otis valley” for Philip Gwynn (1810-93), “Otis valley” for George Armstrong Custer (1813-75), etc.). It should be noted that not all residents chose to adopt their new name when they moved into their township; some found theirs too familiar from previous residences or businesses within their old neighborhoods elsewhere within Alameda County or even outsideof Oakland County altogether! over time however most residents throughout Hughes Valley adopted either their original name or its derivative(s) such as "Montclair" or simply became known as ' locals'. Civic leaders throughout Hughes Valley continued efforts to promote self-promotion among its citizens with various campaigns/ festivities/festivals targeted at reopening dormant businesses/raising money for charity etcetera which continue unto this day culminating with First Annual Festival Of Arts held annually at Pioneer Park on Memorial Day Weekend - marking both the unofficial beginning of summertime & community celebration typical & unique to this part OF THE COUNTRY! In 1848, when California became a state under US President George Washington’s administration following Mexican independence from Spain, Alta California included much of today’s Central Valley including present-day Montclair and Atherton villages as well as areas around Rocklin (just east of today’s town center), La Jolla (just south of today’s Marina district), Milpitas (northwest corner Oftown), Petaluma (southwest corner), Antioch (northernmost tip) and Gilroy ( westernmost tip). In 1850 Congress created new Cos Cob area within AltaCalifornian that included all or parts of: Albany County (), Contra Costa County (), Kern County (), Colusa County (), Mono County () & Butte County ().
