The Montclair Coffee Company was founded in 1875 by George Roederer and became one of the largest coffee businesses in the United States. In 1916, Montclair began producing its own coffee beans for sale to small farmers and consumers through a mail order service. The company lost its prominence in the early 21st century but remains a major player in local coffee culture with multiple retail locations across North America. Today's Montclair Coffee Company operates two large roasting facilities: one located on Summit Avenue off of Interstate 580 east of downtown and another on Maple Avenue just north of Interstate 880 near University Heights High School.

Montclair is a town in Alameda County, California, United States. The population was 27,822 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the San Francisco Bay Area. Montclair's history dates back to 1847 when it was founded by 50 people from East Oakland and Mission Viejo. The first post office in Montclair was established on December 6, 1847. The name of the town came from Mount Claremont which overlooks it and inspired the founders to name their community "Montclair". In 1850, Montclair had a school and two churches; one Congregational and one Presbyterian. In 1869, an express train ran through Montclair on its way to Oakland={now called Fremont}. This event made headlines across North America as people here saw first hand how easy it was for goods and passengers to move around the Bay Area without having to go through San Francisco or Sacramento. During World War II, Montclair played host to many military families who were stationed at Fort Sam Houston in nearby Richmond. Many homes in Montclair were commandeered for use by the military during this time period including Hacienda Heights which still stands today (circa 1950). In 1964-1965, there were large riots that took place throughout Dearborn Heights (the neighborhood immediately adjacent to downtown) after race riots beganods in cities all over America {and especially Ferguson Missouri}. These events left much damage and $100M+ worth of damage reported in Dearborn Heights alone{exact figure unknown}. Montclair is part of the San Francisco Bay Area and is located on the eastern edge of Oakland County. The area now known as Montclair was first settled by Europeans in 1847 as part of the Rancho Perfecto grant from General José Joaquin Moraga to Juan Bautista de Anza. In 1868, the name change to honor George Montague Woodward (1823-1896), an Englishman who had helpedfound BART and became president of Pacific Gas and Electric Company. Rural growth continued until World War II when industry moved into what became known as "the Valley". New housing developments were built while retail businesses closed or merged with other companies. The city's population peaked in 1960 with over 80% of its residents identifying as white; however, this has gradually declined since then due to migration to suburban areas within driving distance. In recent years there has been a renewed focus on downtown redevelopment which has included new mixed-use buildings such as the Montclair Performing Arts Center and new public art installations such as "Mirrorball" by Jay Lynch at City Hall Park. In 2017, Downtown Montclair received $15 million dollars in funding from both state and federal sources to help stabilize it and promote use around town for tourists instead of just inward investment ( see also: Downtown East Oakland ). Today's economy relies heavily on services providing by nearby jurisdictions such as Emeryville, Berkeley and Hayward; these economic sectors have made up an important component of Greater Montclair's overall economy since 2000. These services include health care providers like Kaiser Permanente hospitals/Clinics ; software companies; transportation suppliers including railroads; food service professionals; professional athletes (e.g., Major League Baseball players ); government contractors; etc.).

This ordinance remains one OF THE LAKESIDE CITIES WITH THE LONGEST HISTORY OF NON-DISCRIMINATION IN BUSINESS ACTIVITY! In 1945, montclair was awarded cityhood from portions of Echo Park that had voted to secede from Los Angeles County effective that year due to their strong anti-immigration stance which barred all non-white immigrants from living within its borders Some notable individuals who have lived or worked in montclair include: singer Sammy Davis Jr., actor/director/producer Clint Eastwood (who grew up just east of town), author Barbara Kingsolver (of “The Catcher in The Rye” fame), former Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa (D-LA) – all three are natives or residents who were born or raised here
Montclair was a small village in Contra Costa County, California. It was located on the east side of Montclair Rd., about south of Oakland and north of Berkeley. The population was 1,691 at the 2010 census. Montclair is thought to be founded by Alamutians who settled there in the early 1800s. In 1853, it became part of Oakland and in 1868 it became part of Berkeley. In 1909, Montclair residents voted to ban distilling alcohol because they felt that it would lead to crime and drunkenness in their community. The vote was later overturned by a local judge due to lack of evidence.
