The Marine Corps has been deployed in different places around the world for over 50 years. Montclair, California is one of the most recent locations where Marines have served. The deployment began in 1951 and ended in 2003. The Marine Corps had a deployment to Iraq in 2003 and Afghanistan from 2007-2009. The Marines stationed here are responsible for upholding the order and discipline of their unit as well as providing security for local businesses and residents. In addition, they provide humanitarian assistance to those affected by natural disasters or conflict. This deployment also saw an increase in the number of civilians who work with the Marines. Many civilians help out with tasks such as cleaning up after operations or providing logistical support to units on missions abroad. In 2013, it was announced that Marines would be deploying here again for another yearlong stint. This time, it will be through fiscal year 2016 until February 2017. There are plans for more deployments in the future but no information has yet been released about when or where these will take place!

Montclair is a city in Alameda County, California, United States. The population was 24,247 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Oakland–Hayward metropolitan area. Montclair was founded in 1852 by Captain George A. Smith as a trading post on the north fork of Temescal Creek and its current location has been its original site since 1872. The first post office opened in Montclair on December 12, 1852. In 1870, the town became an agricultural center due to its convenient location between San Francisco and Sacramento; however, over time it lost importance and declined in population until it reached its low point around 1980 when it had only 10 residents. In October 2008, Montclair voters passed Measure EA which requires all new businesses to have a job guarantee or workers’ compensation insurance plan in order to open up shop. This measure helps create jobs for local residents who cannot find work because of their injury or illness
Montclair was founded in 1879 by John Sutter and his brother, George. The Montclair population grew rapidly during the late 1800s, reaching 1,500 residents by 1900. In 1907, Montclair became a city with its own government and elected its first mayor, James H. Cramer. The city's growth continued through the years; in 1925, it had 2,000 residents and by 1930 it had 4,000. By 1935, Montclair had 10K residents and in 1938 it reached 12K residents. During World War II many businesses closed due to the demand for wartime materials; however, most of these businesses reopened after the war ended. One of the few exceptions was The Montclair Times which ceased publication in 1951 due to financial difficulties. In 1957montclair annexed Jay Peak which formed the nucleus of what is now Newark Liberty International Airport
