The first AFB in Montebello was set up on December 1, 1948 at Whiteman Air Force Base. In 1951, the USAF moved its HQ from Washington D.C. to Montebello. By 1957, there were over 100 USAAF units located in California. The unification of Germany in 1990 led to significant changes within the USAF structure; it became an independent service once again under the name United States Air Forces Europe (USAFE). At this time, RAF Monterey Airport became part of RAF Ellington Field near Denver Colorado which served as Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron (HS) while also housing two squadrons: wing/air refueling squadron (WAS) 527th Bomb Wing and Tactical Airlift Squadron (TAS) 334th Airlift Wing both activated at Ellington Field on 1 July 1991 until their merger into 24 Fighter Command’s 45th Fighter Group on 15 October 1994 when all three squadrons were combined at RAF Ellington Field under one command structure; 459th FW In 1995-1996 two new squadrons were activated: 460th FW providing overwatch coverage for Igloo Barracks during Operation Desert Storm while 463rd FW flew support missions from Edwards AFB during Operation Restore Hope On 10 February 1998 a group called “Friends Of The Earth – Save Our Environment” presented former Deputy Commander 3rd General Accounting Office Michael Smerconish with an artificial intelligence system that would fly above San Francisco Bay Area cities warning people about potential pollution levels if certain development plans went through In late May 2000 a total of $2 million worth of gifts were sent to air forces around America including Sentry missile batteries stationed at Mountain Home AFB Nevada Missile Range On 21 November 2002 Lockheed Martin donated four F-15 Eagle fighter jets to be used by Davis-Monthan AFB Arizona relocated from Tucson AZ after years flying out of Nellis AFB Nevada On 14 January 2003 George W Bush received a McDonnell Douglas MD-80 jet airliner donated by Boeing Co Inc for use as his personal travel aircraft He is also reported to have used this jet frequently for flights into Texas Presidential Executive Mansion . Also that year Northrop Grumman donated six AIM-9 Sidewinder missiles systems for deployment aboard USS Abraham Lincoln during Operation Neptune's Spear

The United States Air Force gift history in Montebello, California date back to 1942. In that year, the USAF activated the 1st Bombardment Wing at Kelly Air Force Base, Texas and stationed two B-25 Mitchells there. The wing also received its first jet aircraft, the Boeing 314A-2/B-29 Superfortress. In 1946, the wing was redesignated as the 413th Bombardment Wing and moved to Andersen Air Force Base in Guam. In 1948, the wing was reequipped with Convair CV-8 Constellation jets and again deployed to Kelly AFB Texas. The wing flew strategic missions against Japan during that time period. In 1951, while stationed at KAFB, a group of pilots from the 413th BW formed what would become known as "The Greatest Generation" - a term which is still used today by members of that unit commemorating their military service during World War II. That same year saw another move for the squadron when it became an operational component of Strategic Air Command's Eighth Air Force under command of General Curtis LeMay. In 1957, uponactivation of Strategic Air Command (SAC), 1st BW Operations Group activated at Grand Forks AFB North Dakota where it operated Lockheed P-38 Lightning fighter planes until 1959 when it became an Operational Training Unit (OTU) flying F-86 Sabre fighters for SAC training new pilots. It also provided bombardment support for military exercises conducted by US allies in Europe and Mediterranean areas between 1958 and 1960 including air refueling operations using KC-135 Stratotanker bombers over NATO exercises off Norway on 9 July 1958; these exercises were named INTERCEPTIONS IN NORWAY! The squadron disbanded on 10 October 1959 at Grand Forks AFB after almost 50 years active duty with no substantive change in mission or personnel throughout its tenure except for one brief period served as an OTU within SAC before being reassigned back to RAF Coningsby RAF located just outside Manchester England during Operation SHIELD (1962). It returned to USAF control on 15 October 1962 when SAC disbanded and all combat squadrons were transferred directly from Tactical Air Command (TAC) organization into USAF structure effective 13 November 1962 being consolidated with Headquarters NinthAir Forces which was concurrently created within Tactical Aerospace Divisionlarged from headquarters FourthAir Forces which had been combined previously with Headquarters European Allied Forces Command(CENTCOM). On 1 February 1966 new Tactical Airlift Squadron equipped with Cessna EC135 helicopters was activated at Offutt AFB Nebraska providing airlift services using Douglas DC-7 transport aircraft conducting Search and Rescue operations worldwide following natural disasters such as hurricanes Katrina & Rita
Montebello is a small town in the Santa Clara County, California, region of Silicon Valley. The population was 23,611 at the 2010 census. It is located in the eastern San Joaquin Valley and is bordered by Livermore to the south and east, Redwood City to the north, Palo Alto to the west and Fresno to the northwest. The name Montebello comes from Spanish for "mountain peak". The peak was first sighted by Jesuit missionaries on their way from Monterey Bay to Sonoma County in 1769. They called it Mombello because of its similarity to an ancient mountain they had seen near Monterey. The name stuck and today's Montebello refers only to a section of downtown that lies on top of Sloat Hill overlooking Market Street. The community started as a placer goldmining district in 1853 but soon diversified into other economic fields including cattle raising, shipbuilding, citrus production, lumbering and farming. A post office was established at Montebello in 1859; its first resident was Jervis Gilmore. In 1906 electricity arrived in Montebello through an electric line run from nearby Livermore and this helped start a new era for its economy which included many spinoff businesses that continue today such as Hewlett-Packard (HP), Sun Microsystems (Sun) and Intel (INTC). On July 14th 1907 residents organized themselves into what would become known as the United States Manufacturing District No 1 during a meeting held at Masonic Hall on Main Street; future Mayor George Seaton presided over this meeting which also formed what became known as "the First Municipal Government" of Montebello In 1912 voters approved Measure EB1 which provided property tax relief for local manufacturers while also creating incentives for development within town limits On December 15th 1913 mayor Seaton signed legislation creating "Montebello Union High School", one of several public high schools founded throughout California during World War I due largely to military recruiting efforts . Today dating back over 100 years old, MONTEBELLO UNION HIGHS SCHOOL Still stands strong – providing excellent education opportunities for students from all walks of life!

Montebello is a small city in San Luis Obispo County, California, United States. The population was 7,811 at the 2010 census. Montebello has been inhabited by Native Americans for over two thousand years. In 1821, it was part of Alta California and became a Mexican land grant to José Joaquin Moraga. On January 16, 1846, after the Mexican–American War ended and Mexico lost its territory in Alta California due to US victory, the U.S. acquired Montebello from Moraga and renamed it after General Antonio Montero's forces who had fought against Mexico during the war. Although originally an agricultural community rich in resources such as gold and silver mines and grazing areas for cattle and sheep, development of Montebello began only gradually throughout the 19th century due to lack of infrastructure and competition from nearby cities like Santa Cruz and Monterey Bay. However, with increasing access to transportation due both to Spanish colonization efforts (when land grants were given out through missions) as well as American settlement during World War II following Japanese victories over Mexico at Guadalcanal and Iwo Jima (the first battle of World War II), growth accelerated rapidly in the late 20th century culminating in 2000 when Montebello became one of thirty-six communities statewide that were merged into the new city of San Luis Obispo.
