When the United States Air Force was formed in 1947, they had a specific focus in mind: to be the global air power of choice. Air force deployments have been a part of USAF history since the beginning, and as we move into the 21st century, this focus is even stronger. With more than 50 years of experience in deploying gifts to our service members and their families around the world, we can say with certainty that AFB Moorpark has long been an integral part of USAF gift history. In 1948, AFB Moorpark was activated as one of two operational commands for USAAF Europe (USAF Eurowest). commanded by General Curtis LeMay. This assignment involved providing strategic bombardment support for Allied forces during World War II. In 1949-1951, I Bomber Command Headquarters at RAF Lakenheath was relocated from London to RAF Moorpark and became command headquarters for all USAAF bombers stationed in Europe- making AFB Moorpark one of only three bomber bases worldwide! Additionally, during this time period American military advisors were assigned to various nations on European soil including Italy (Ettore Tolomei), France (Georges Bidault), Norway (Jens Stoltenberg) and Spain (Luis Casas). The goal here was not just bombing targets but also helping these nations become strong enough to defend themselves against any future aggression by either Russia or China! With its new location and mission capabilities, AFB Moorpark quickly became known as “the home away from home” for USAF bombers stationed in Europe. From 1951-1953 there was also an additional detachment called Reconnaissance Squadron One which provided intelligence gathering assistance to Allied forces through photography and mapping activities! Throughout this time period there were also several milestones associated with AFB Moorpark; it first received its own radar station which increased its detectability radius reaching up to 400km; secondly it became home to the first jet aircraft squadron within NATO whenactivated Tactical Fighter Wing Five hundredth fighter Wing activated on 1 October 1953; finally it hosted America’s first overseas deployment when Tactical Airlift Squadron Three Hundredth flew supplies support Operation Overlord on 6 May 1944! Throughout these years our community came together and supported our military personnel by donating items such as clothing, food items and other assorted household items! In recent years there have even been special occasions such as Air Force Day where donations are accepted throughout town during happy hour from 5pm-7pm local time! In Moorpark, California, in 1946, the United States Air Force Deployed a Gift to the people of Japan. The gift was a Boeing 707-200 Airliner Aircraft. The Airliner came with two engines and could seat up to eighty passengers. It was given as a present to the Japanese Resistance Fighters who were fighting against World War II.
Moorpark is a city in Contra Costa County, California, United States. Moorpark is located on the border of Richmond and Contra Costa counties. The population was 24,814 at the 2010 census. Moorpark is part of the San Francisco Bay Area. The first people to live in what is now Moorpark were Native Americans. AMission del Oro Baptist Church was established in 1857 and it remains one of the oldest missions in Contra Costa County today. In 1862, George Wickersham founded a sawmill here which became Wickersham & Company before becoming Wickersham Bros., Incorporated in 1915. In 1916, Don Bollinger founded an insurance company here and this company still exists as Don Bollinger Insurance Services today. In 1930, Arlen Ellison purchased 10 acres (4 hectares) of land just east of town for $30 from Will Haggerty who had acquired it from John Coyle for $2 million dollars two years earlier. He named his new development "Moorpark". The community began to grow rapidly with many developers coming to purchase land within its boundaries including Jerald Stratton (1934-1964), Julius Rosenwald (1935-1967), Harry Chandler (1937-1979), Robert Moses (1939-1977), Arturo Rivera (1945-1968), and Edwin Land (1950s). The City Council voted on December 5th, 1951 to rename their community Moorpark after then Mayor James Rolph's father - Alonzo Mourning Rolph - who had been killed during World War II while serving with the U.SArmy Pacific Fleet at Okinawa Island Japan when he was only 27 years old age 11 months old Mayor James Rolph proclaimed January 1st, 1952 as "Alonzo Mourning Day" in honor of his father who had helped lay down our city's foundation fifty years earlier prior to that date On July 15th 1957 the High School opened its doors after over 6 years construction by Mrs Margie Kappeler and her husband Clyde Kappeler under the guidance of Superintendent Dr Charles Pfeiffer with Mr Edward Mowatt Assistant Superintendent . Mrs Margie Kappeler donated her home on Academy Road which served as High School Gymnasium until 1961 Today there are 2 high schools: Woodland Hills/Moorpark East High School & Mountain View Ridge High School which share an athletic stadium called Max Preus Stadium located near I-880 freeway exit #160

Moorpark is a small town in the southeastern corner of California, about 25 miles east of downtown Los Angeles. Moorpark's population was 1,912 at the 2010 census. The name "Moorpark" comes from Spanish for "the marshy place". Moorpark was founded in 1887 by James B. Ford and his partner, Hiram W. Gates. Ford was a immigrant from England who had arrived in Pasadena in 1853. He started a blacksmith shop and later developed a cattle ranch that became one of the largest in Southern California. In 1916, Ford donated land to establish Moorpark High School; it remains one of the few public high schools in California open to students of all racial backgrounds today. In 1947, an oil well onshore resulted in some gas escaping into the atmosphere and creating an uproar throughout Southern California as affluent homeowners began to drill for oil wells near their homes with little or no concern for the environment or local communities which were struggling economically during this time period. The town's mayor responded to this outcry by proposing that all new homes be built without backyards and that drilling companies post warning signs at their sites advising people not to touch or live near any potential gas wells until further notice
