The Coast Guard gift history in Moorpark, California begins with the establishment of the Moorpark Light Infantry in 1923. The Coast Guardsmen who founded this unit were inspired to action by the sinking of a Spanish merchant ship off their coast on December 8th, 1922. At that time, it was believed that Santa Barbara Harbor could not be defended against an enemy attack. The Light Infantry quickly proved its worth and was given its own station within the Coast Guard. In 1951, Moorpark became home to the first Coast Guard Base in Southern California when Fort MacArthur was established here. This base played an important role in coastal security and helped maintain law and order during times of crisis. In 1977, Moorpark Station received its current name - Bay Area Station - marking yet another milestone in our Coast Guardsmen's history. Today, Bay Area Station is responsible for providing leadership and support to both civilian and military members from throughout Northern California as they work together to protect our region from harm. Moorpark, California is a city located in San Bernardino County, California. The population was 397 at the 2010 census. Moorpark is one of the most popular places to live in Southern California and has been called "the wine country of the East Coast." Moorpark was founded by George Moor in 1873 as a small agricultural community. Over time, Moorpark became an important center for heavy industry and commerce. In 1906, Moorpark's first post office opened and it remains the town's primary address today. The city grew rapidly during World War II as production increased for war materials such as aluminum and munitions. After the war, many businesses closed or relocated to other areas of Southern California, but downtown Moorpark remain an active commercial district with a variety of stores and restaurants. Today, much of what made Moorpark so attractive has been lost to development: its narrow streets are now filled with high-rise buildings; its agricultural past is largely forgotten; and its historic landmarks have been replaced by modern structures or abandoned sites. However, there are still some vestiges of old life here: The Old Courthouse is still used regularly as a court building; there are several interesting shops on State Street near downtown; and much of the architecture from when MoorPark was part of Riverside County can be found clustered around Airport Boulevard outside of town.

Moorpark is a city in the Central Valley of California, United States. Moorpark was founded on December 10, 1887 by John C. Fremont and James W. Moor. The population was 17,553 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pasadena–Los Angeles metropolitan area. Moorpark is located in southeastern Los Angeles County, about south of downtown LA and east ofEncino Hills and Hollywood Hills. According to the 2010 census, the city has a total area of , all land. In 1887, John C Fremont and James W Moor founded Moorpark as an agricultural community on what is now Interstate 5 near present-day Sylmar Boulevard north of Carson City Road east of Fullerton Avenue in San Gabriel Valley – then part of Mexico – with their families living in huts made from earth and brush until they were able to build a small frame house on December 10th (1887). In 1916 they sold their interest in the town to Jerald Henson for $210,000USD making it one of many towns purchased by Henson during his ownership including Groveland (1915), Monterrey (1920), Industry (1925) and Pomona (1927). In 1926 he donated land for construction of what would become Home Park which became Mecca for joggers and horseback riders who came to exercise there before attending religious services at Our Lady's Shrine Auditorium across from Highland Park High School; today’s Home Park offers its own golf course as well as playgrounds for children as well as restaurants such as The Lion’s Den Pizza Place & Sports Bar.. The 1910 American Nursery Association meeting took place at Home Park which was attended by President William Howard Taft along with other representatives from around America.. In 1942 residents rioted after Japanese Americans were interned during World War II inside Home Park plus adjacent Sylvester Rd., now known as Koreatown following an anti-Semitic campaign waged by US Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa targeting Japanese Americans throughout Southern California; this event resulted in six arrests including three civilians while over 100 people were injured according to police reports.. After World War II most homes were replaced with new purpose-built housing developments such as Loretto Estates which opened up much of central Los Angeles County between 1951-1960 following AGB demolitions ordered by newly elected Governor Ralph Yarborough; these developments also included two high schools: Loretto Memorial High School established in 1951 followed by Don Day Middle School being built concurrently adjacent to Loretto Estates between 1957-1959 when that district became known simply as “Loretto” after its original developer Mrs . Dorothy Merrill; both schools are still extant today although Don Day Middle School has been closed since 2009 due to budget cuts believed attributed to low enrollment levels.. On October 15th 1970 Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa announced plans for a large shopping center anchored by Sears having been proposed next door vacant lot number 666 Broadway Boulevard renamed "Villaraigosa Center" just west of Lanky Pines Rd off Ventura Blvd.; however no action taken until November 1st when Planning Commission member Arturo Reyes publicly opposed the project citing concerns that it would negatively impact existing homeownership opportunities within walking distance while also adding that he couldn't support revamping Vinegar Hill Road into a mall since "it will be filled with traffic." On November 9th 1971 City Councilman Hiram Garcia authored a letter expressing opposition designed "to provide some voice against any possible development proposal if it should come before us";[1] on January 12th 1972 Yorba Linda Unified School District Superintendent Darryl Fenton responded back stating that if school board wanted something done then “I suggest you get down here [town hall] because we can do it better than you can’”[2][3][4][5] later that year Developer Harry Weisman applied through public hearings process to change name/address from "Villaraigosa Center" - which had already been given away - back to "home park", but without result.[6][7][8] On February 16th1972 Supervisor Arturo Reyes wrote another letter opposing any further development proposals Regardless,[9][10] ultimately resulting in no further action being taken until May 6th 1973 when Community Services Agency Director Roy Romine stated he would not renew Villaraigosa's contract because "...the boundaries have changed"... prior thereto several developers expressed interest in developing the site but none materialized[11]. Finally on July 2nd1973 Historic Preservation Officer Clyde Collier submitted findings documenting evidence indicating 3 structures associated with early missionary activity located near current day intersection Of Lanky Pines Road And Vinegar Hill Road...However despite this information being provided Developers did not take any action.[12][13] After years OFP continued monitoring changes taking place within community w/o future significance becoming aware only identified 4 additional structures(possibly 5)[14], these events leading up directly To The Formation Of Home Park As envisioned By Mr . Hiram Garcia In 1971 although never conclusively proven[15]. Despite this lack Ofaction potential Development never progressed beyond concept stage until late 1990's when businessman David Geffen bought majority stake & initiated initial planning efforts finally culminating In Present Day City Of Moorpark
