On October 1, 1916 Mayor John Atherton granted site approval for what would become Pioneer Hall which housed both Municipal Courtrooms and City Hall until 1949 when they moved into their current location across from Veteran's Memorial Park southwest corner First Street/Pioneer Highway from where they still present day operate with no interruption until this very day! The original building now stands vacant except for some restoration work currently taking place inside! The following year another annexation occurred giving us our present day Downtown core consisting mainly (but not limited to) Second Street between Elm Street & Orange Avenue; Third Street from Piney Canyon Drive SW towards Interstate 10 east side past Lone Peak Road southeast corner onto University Avenue thence northeasterly along University Avenue amd finally west side along Deer Valley Road sudwest corner onto Coyote Hills Drive thence northeasterly along Coyote Hills Drive thru our current civic center complex finally ending at Airport Boulevard! . . . . . All through these various annexations we have maintained various key streetscape features like Right One Way Streets mainline arterials being named after early settlers or honored icons such as Captain George Armstrong Custer who served Ft Carson during World War I while living here near our Civic Center Complex prior to his death in 1945; several blockslong Indiana Jones themed sidewalks running perpendicular thoout neighborhoods bordering Mulholland Estates; multiplexing existing local theaters/performance venues throughout town thereby enhancing cultural experiences for residents even today; excellent public transportation options including bike thefts becoming much less common lately thanks in partour excellent bus rapid transit system operated by Transit Riders Local Union 518 made possible b funded Measure R emergency initiative

Moorpark was founded in 1875 by Mormons who came from Utah and homesteaded on Rancho Santa Fe de las Pulgas (now part of Corona). Moorpark's first post office opened in 1877. The town began to grow rapidly after it became a railroad junction in the early 20th century and developed as a bedroom community for Southern Californians seeking easy access to jobs in Los Angeles and other metropolitan areas. In the late 21st century, however, growth slowed as new development moved into central or eastern parts of the city limits; Moorpark's population peaked at 11,495 in 2000 but has since declined to 10,711 today. Moorpark's history can be traced back to 1875 when Mormon settlers from Utah arrived in what is now San Bernardino County and platted their land around Rancho Santa Fe de las Pulgas - one of several tracts that were subdivided into farms and ranches during the initial settlement boom of Southern California during the Gold Rush era. In 1871 Isaac Myhre established an agricultural company with twelve acres (5 ha) of land east of present-day Moorpark Boulevard - which later became known as Myhre Street - to provide milk for locals who fed their cattle on his farmstead nearpresent day downtown Moorpark. The following year Captain J R Meacham organized a team of twenty men – thirteen enlisted men and four civilians – under commandof Captain John Sitton to prospect for silver along Mono Creek within three miles (5 km) of present-day downtown Moor park.. On October 9th 1871 Captains Meacham and Sitton discovered Barberton Mines & assay Office Filed No 7653 . This discovery led directly to development at what would become known as "Moorpark". Within weeks of its appearance on local newspapers local citizens had erected fences around their holdings with crudely cut lumber from nearby mountain forests just south of where Interstate 15 now crosses Mono Creek east of downtown MoorPark The established businesses along Main Street quickly sprang up: store owner James Aiken started selling groceries out front before moving inside two years later; hardware store pioneer George Nolen sold nails, screws &c.; saddlery businessThomas Hutton started manufacturing horsehair rope here before opening a larger operation north off Vine Street some time between 1870s-1880s A few years later water supplies began flowing more easily through Union Slough nearby so cactus farming got underway on newly cleared land northeast corner High School Road" which produced high quality tortillas today Cottonseed production followed soon thereafter when William Moster purchased 4 acres (1 ha) north off Main Street adjacent to Springbrook Reservoir in 1873 Moster ran a small crop year round but made large profits exporting cottonseed throughout southern California due largely to government subsidies given via Federal Land Administration rulings . By 1880 most farmers had stopped growing crops altogether due mainly to heavy frosts that winter’dnearly destroying any crops grown" However cottonseed production continued until about 1920 By 1900 only 1/4 acre (0.24 ha) remained undeveloped beyond original township boundaries currently home Toombs Adobe State Historic Park
