Moorpark is a city in Ventura County, California, United States. Moorpark was incorporated on July 1, 1907. The population was 32,598 at the 2010 census. The City of Moorpark is located within the boundaries of the City of Simi Valley. It has an area of 7 square miles (18 km2). The first humans to live in what is now Moorpark were Native American Mono people who arrived there about 1650 and built Villages on both sides of the river that trends through town today. Indian wars and raids by white settlers led to increased violence between Native Americans and Europeans throughout this time period; as a result, many Mono died from injuries or disease brought over on these raiding parties. In 1853 Edward Hutton became landowner of Rancho San Pedro de la Cueva which included present-day Moorpark eastward to Sycamore Avenue and northward to Imperial Street. This rancho was known for its high quality fruit trees which yielded large crops year-round despite hard freezes during winter months; however, it also produced cattle and sheep for additional income during warm months when those animals could be milked instead of being slaughtered. In 1868 Jens Nielsen established another small farmstead nearby called West Point near present day Santa Fe Road/Canyon Drive while he was still working on Rancho San Pedro de la Cueva; but because it had no water source other than a creek that ran through his property constantly,Nielsen decided not to build any permanent buildings until he had found a way to get more water from the creek."Nielsen's Creek" Still available today for irrigation purposes as well as providing drinking water for portions of downtown Moorpark can be traced all the way back to him – thank you Mr Nielsen! A few years later George Wills purchased Rancho Los Nietos from José Fonseca which lay just southwest of present day Pico Rivera Boulevard/I-5Exit 164 off State Route 101 then west onto I-5 Exit 168 near Present Day Yorba Linda Road/State Route 134 before turning south onto I-5 Exit 169 near Present Day La Puente Boulevard/State Route 126 whereupon he acquired yet another piece adjoining Rancho Los Nietos - one that extended all the way south into Ventura County including what is now Downtown Ventura! In 1879 Wills married Mary Jane Eaton who lived at her previous home northeast corner Of Lankershim Blvd./Pacific Coast Highway in Sherman Oaks and they soon moved there too after getting their first child born at their old home northeast corner Of Lankershim Blvd./Pacific Coast Highway in Sherman Oaks - Harry James Wills Sr.. In 1901 they bought an acreage northwest side Of Laurel Canyon Boulevard/UCLA Campus for $2 per acre (the only purchase made by them west of Mulholland Drive)! They named their new property "Laurel Canyon". Their son Harry James Jr., would later own most adjacent properties across LA from father to son... so technically Harry James III does have some ancestral blood going back quite some distance! Families moving out of state began arriving here beginning with John Sutter coming through in 1887 followed by his brother Charles Sutter & family in 1888; same year saw George Hearn arrive with his family; families continued migrating here until around 1925 when World War II started making life difficult again due constraints on housingavailability leading many people away temporarily or permanently leaving behind homes they had built over time especially northwestern parts including much farmland within current day Moorpark proper including parts east & southeast inside city limits) prior thereto!!!
