At that time, Bob's Coffee & Tea was a small mom-and-pop shop with two locations: one in downtown Moraga and one in the old Central Arcade building on Market Street. Bob's Coffee & Tea roaster started out as a small family business run by Bob (the father) and his wife Peggy. They roasted whole beans for their customers until they opened up a second location in 1984, which served as their main roasting studio until 1990 when they moved to their current location on University Avenue. In recent years, Bob's Coffee & Tea has continued to be an important part of the community with multiple social media platforms dedicated to helping others discover their favorite cup of Joe from around the world. The first coffee shop in Moraga was opened by a family of Italian immigrants in 1922. The business continued to be run by the same family until it closed in 1984. Moraga, California is a city located in the Central Valley of California. With a population of nearly 77,000 as of 2010, Moraga is the second-largest city in Contra Costa County and the largest city in Alameda County. The Moraga Unified School District has over 90% participation rates for students from poverty and low income families. The Moraga City Council has been working to create an urban identity that reflects its diversity and community values since it was elected in 2008. The history of Moraga goes back to 1851 when José Joaquin Urquiza settled at Cerro Gordo on the east side of Clear Creek Canyon. In 1857, American oak trees were first planted on what is now downtown Moraga after being imported from Oakland by Captain George Hearst’s son-in-law, Jedediah Smith. A post office called Clear Creek was established at the junction of Clear Creek Road and Antioch Road in 1858, but no town was built until 1870 when William Hutton erected a gristmill on the stream near present day City Hall Square. In 1865, John Sutter founded Sutterville on his land west ofpresent day downtown Moraga with help from Chinese immigrants who had come to work on his Rancho San Francisco National Monument project. When he died in1865 his estate passed to his wife Mary Ann Sutter who started building homes for sale around what is now Folsom Street near where she had married him 25 years earlier. MrsSutter named her new development North Beach after her native beach town north of San Francisco known as North Beach during her childhood there. In 1909 local developer James Jaffe bought 100 acres along Coyote Creek adjacent to what is today downtown Moraga for $5 per acre which became Jaffe Park today. Jaffe ran a dry goods store here before starting construction on one of Northern California’s first shopping centers – The Plaza – which opened November 5th 1915 at 1025 Harrison Street across Coyote Creek from today’s State Fairgrounds across I Street from modern dayCity Hall Square/DowntownMoragaToday’s plaza also housesJaffe Museumand another small store used byJaffe as an office until 1978when it burned down A number of other businesses followed including several residences and two churches before becomingthe currentCivic Center complex housing both City hall square/DowntownMoragaToday's civic center also containsthe Jameson Building housingthecity government's offices as well as some large commercial tenants including Costco Wholesale warehouse chain The original Plaza mall closed its doors in 1978 due to fire but reopened under new management within months with most retail tenants moving into newer buildings nearby Civic Center Complex civic center was also damaged by a major earthquake in 1989 resultingin substantial lossof equipment and structure but managed to reopen less than 2 years later During this time period several murals were painted depicting various aspectsofmoragaincludingfolklifedancehalland orchestra performance venues

Moraga, California was settled in 1849 by John Sutter and his partner, Mary Jane Chalfont. The area became part of the United States in 1850. Moraga is located on the eastern side of San Francisco Bay, about midway between the city of San Francisco and the county seat of Alameda County. The first permanent settler in Moraga was James Shields who arrived in 1849. Shields founded a small brick kiln at what is now known as Shields Park near present-day downtown Moraga. For many years, Moraga was a farming community with cornmeal being the primary crop. In 1860, local residents voted to incorporate as a town and began to build their own homes and businesses. In 1880, local citizens formed the Moraga Agricultural Society to promote agriculture and provide seed for local crops. In 1908, Moraga incorporated as a city under the name of “Moragasca” after its founder’s wife Laura Noyes Morrison (1847-1924). At that time, it had a population of just over 100 people. Moraga is a small town in the San Joaquin Valley of California. It was first land grantee on February 24, 1847. The name Moraga comes from the Mono people who lived there at the time. The town was founded by pioneers George and Lucy Searles and their families on what is now called Earhart Road.
