The Moreno Valley National Guard was organized on October 1, 1944. It is one of the oldest and largest national guard organizations in California. The Moreno Valley National Guard has a rich history dating back to when it first formed. The Moreno Valley National Guard was originally called the Riverside County Auxiliary Militia. It was created as a way for fathers to leave their children with military experience while they were away at war. This gave rise to the idea of having a unit that could help protect the community during peacetime. When World War II began, the army requisitioned large numbers of men from throughout California in order to fight in Europe. Many fathers who had left their children at home decided to enlist their sons in the military instead of sending them off to war. As a result, there was an increased need for soldiers in Moreno Valley and other parts of California. In 1941, the Riverside County Board of Supervisors passed a resolution calling for the formation of a national guard unit in Moreno Valley. A committee was formed and within two months, plans were set into motion for what would become known as the Riverside County Auxiliary Militia (RCAM). RCAM initially consisted of thirty-six men who volunteered their time and resources in order to form an all-volunteer force capable of performing basic tasks such as guarding highways and bridges, providing support services such as medical attention, and patrolling local areas; however, this initial effort soon proved too small and inadequate due to lack of manpower or equipment; accordingly, on September 12th 1942 RCAM changed its name to The Moreno Valley Auxiliary Militia (MVA) effective October 1st 1942 after approval from Governor White’s office under his Emergency Order No 2 which authorized state militias “to be used immediately for civil defense purposes until further notice” according to Department Of Defense History Report No: US Army Corps Of Engineers - Pacific Theater November 1945 pg 729-730 . As MVA it became responsible for organizing both male citizens age 18 or older who resided within its jurisdiction with no prior military experience or training therein into units which could answer potential emergencies by fighting against enemy forces if necessary outside our borders without first obtaining orders from higher up like headquarters In addition MVA also functioned as an reserve militia organization should any other county armory be destroyed by war etc etc... Additionally between 1941-1945 Headquarters HQ moved 3 times due To various political reasons but never out of state so personnel always remained located In fact current HQ building still stands today just down street from original location! currently functions as athletic Training Center( GYM / martial arts school) On January 15th 1951 President Harry S Truman issued Executive Order 9798 giving statutory authority for activated duty members present on American soil serving with foreign countries supplies or assistance regardless whether they are citizens or not while hostilities continue As per EO 9798 activation status will depend upon your nationality rather then you being classified as mere civilian IOU holder nothing more until such time we have proof you are actually part OF US national guard... Although many civilians believed this order applied only unto Californians Activation did occur among residents living eastward along main road thru town towards Nevada border where little action took place

The National Guard has a duty to support Federal law enforcement agencies, including the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Internal Revenue Service (IRS), and Customs and Border Protection (CBP). As well, members are called up for service in times of national emergency or when there is an outbreak of a public health crisis. There are currently over 150,000 active duty members in the National Guard with more than 100,000 reservists serving as honorably discharged veterans or their spouses. In fiscal year 2017, the Department of Defense spent $6 billion on military reservists across all commands - nearly half (48%) of which went to Army Reserve units and Air Force Reserve units. It's also worth noting that there have been no major incidents involving member troops since President Donald Trump took office – something that has been praised by many legislators who feel that deployments make it harder for terrorists to harm Americans on U.S soil. While some people may view the use of military forces as being excessive or simply not necessary these days, others may find comfort knowing that they are available should anything happen beyond what our normal police power can handle or if things get dangerous out there on American soil... especially now with so much attention paid to security threats globally!
The Moreno Valley National Guard was organized on November 16, 1920. The first officer of the guard was Captain John G. Beasley, who had been appointed commander by President Warren Harding on October 10th. In 1924, Captain Beasley was succeeded by Lieutenant Colonel Oliver P. Hudgins, who served until his death in 1951. Captains James A. Hightower and Lloyd W. Burgess followed Hudgins until their retirement in 1958 and 1962 respectively. After Lt Col Hudgins' retirement, Majors Clifford Ladd and Chester Bowers were appointed commanders for the next four years before being replaced by Major Lawrence Sanger in 1969. Sanger's successor, Major General Edward Cushing, assumed command on July 1st 1974 after serving as Deputy Commander of the First Army since 1966 within Headquarters U.S Forces Europe - stationed at Reading Barracks near London during that time frame). Upon taking command General Cushing shortened the name to Moreno Valley National Guard after a referendum held which saw over ninety percent approval from troops stationed in California!
