Morgan Hill is a small city located in Contra Costa County, California. The population was 37,711 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the San Francisco Bay Area and is home to many high-technology companies. Morgan Hill has a temperate climate, with average monthly temperatures ranging from 28 to 31 degrees Fahrenheit (17 to 19 degrees Celsius). The rainfall averages 1,500 square feet per year. The name Morgan Hill comes from Englishman John Morgan who settled in this area in 1846. He named the area after his maternal great-grandfather, Colonel James G. Morgan. In 1868, General George Custer was born here and spent most of his early life in this town before moving on to Roseville and later Berkeley Heights in Oakland County. The first post office was established at Morgan Hill on November 15, 1872 by Jno Wm Coombs with the name of “Hillsboro”; it changed its name to “Morgan Hill” on December 1st of that year when a grant of land for an Academy for Girls was obtained from Colonel James Gorman III.. The first school opened at Morgan Hill on September 4th 1875 by Mrs Fannie Bancroft under the direction of Miss Anna Moulton (later Mrs Leland Stanford). A new school building had been erected at what is now North Fourth Street and Harrison Avenue corner Third Street when fire destroyed it on October 16th 1888; a new school building was dedicated on January 5th 1889 by Governor Augustus Graham with Mr John Davenport as Superintendent.. In 1896 Pacific Electric Railway built their line down Highway 99 between Antioch and Richmond via Meadowbrook Park becoming one of California's first major industries; they also started up some small businesses along the way including hardware store pioneer Edward Hutton who opened what became known as Hutton's Hardware near where Interstate 680 meets I-680 approximately 2 miles east of present day downtown Morgan Hill In 1957 Dr Jerry Brown becameGovernor after becoming State Senator from Sacramento He announced he would run for President but withdrew before launching his campaign Brown would become Mayor of Oakland

Morgan Hill is located in San Mateo County, California. The population was 31,813 at the 2000 census. It is part of the San Francisco Bay Area. The hill rises to an elevation of 1,815 feet (500 m). For millennia, Morgan Hill was a burial ground for Native Americans. The first European to visit Morgan Hill was Juan Bautista de Anza on September 25, 1769. He named the valley after General Gabriel Moraga and his commando unit during the Mexican-American War. In 1846, John Sutter founded Sutters land grant near present-day Morgan Hill. Sutters family continues to be one of the largest landowners in town today. In 1858, Stanford College selected Morgan Hill as its new campus site due to its proximity to important shipping and railroad terminals along Market Street in downtownSan Francisco and its easy access from Interstate 80 which then connected Los Angeles and Sacramento." The original college buildings were constructed on what is now Second Street between University Avenue and West Portal Road. In 1915–16, more than 50 years after approval by university trustees but before construction began, Porter Hall (now Allston Hall) became earthquake proof with concrete floors and walls that survived a 5 magnitude quake that struck Berkeley on December 12th 1906; this event also left extensive damage throughout Berkeley." On October 16th 1912 – two days after America's entry into World War I – Morgan Hill High School opened its doors for students aged 15 through 19 when enrollment reached 2200 students in grades 9 through 12." After America’s entry into World War II ended hostilities in Europe; American war veterans returned home looking for homes they could call their own.– so too did many Morgan Hill graduates who had served their country abroad " Mr . J . P . Sullivan announced plans for a housing project called “The Valley” that would provide permanent homes for returning servicemen plus their families….the $3 million dollar project was financed by local & state taxes levied upon property owners within 20 miles of Stanford University…. actual plots were distributed among university members through lotteries drawing lots starting February 15th 1913….. builders laid out stone blocks averaging 3 feet 6 inches (1 m) thick with mortar…and brick using lime mortar…every building cost $5,000 dollars…. residents dug wells up to 4 feet below ground level while living without air conditioning or running water…." By 1945 enrollment had grown to over 4000 students with grades 8 through 12." Starting in Fall of 1951 there were only junior varsity sports available until Spring of 1957 when participation expanded into all sports including men’s basketball where women first played varsity ball……………………………….. later Sports Fields added…………………………………….. Today we have over 21 sport fields including 7 tennis courts……….. Our Student Body has increased from 2400 in Fall 1951 to nearly 4800 today……………………………………….. major events such as Homecoming/ Convocation etc., are now held here at our school year round
