Morgan Hill is a town in Contra Costa County, California, United States. The population was 20,471 at the 2010 census. It lies on the eastern edge of San Francisco Bay and is located about 15 miles (24 km) northeast of downtown San Francisco. The first European to visit Morgan Hill was Father Ramon Gomez in 1776. A mission was built here in 1821 by Franciscan missionaries under the leadership of José Altamirano. In 1847, this area became part of Marin County when it was organized from portions of Sonoma and Marin counties. In 1901, former Vice President Al Smith gifted $15 million to help build schools and other public works in Morgan Hill and nearby townships during his term as Governor of California. This gift helped spur development in these rural districts which had been struggling for years before Smith's donation. A post office called Morgan Hill dates back to 1852; it changed its name to its current one in 1903. The town began incorporation on February 13, 1906; the first mayor was Hamert Jorgensen. The original businesses included a bootstore and a grocery store. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of , all land.
The United States Coast Guard was founded on April 12, 1792 when the U.S. Congress authorized a Navy department to be established with the goal of preventing ships from running into reefs or other obstacles in the waters off America's coast. The Coast Guard took its present form on December 15, 1915 when Congress created an agency called the Revenue Cutter Service and transferred all power to it over the coastal fisheries and navigation resources of the country. Today, there are over 21,000 men and women who serve with the Coast Guard as part of both National guard and Reserve units across America. The Coast Guard operates more than 100 aircraft which include HH-60 Jayhawk helicopters, P-3 Orion maritime patrol planes, LHDs (Large High Speed Craft), TM-21T Lightship/Afloat Helicopter Units (PHUs), USCGC Polar Star fast response boats (FRBs), CG-4W Greyhound class Landing Ships for Firefighting (LFIF) and CG-5W Olympic class Coastal Vessel Patrol Craft(CVP). The Coast Guard is peculiar in that it has never been an Department of Defense Agency. In fact, until World War II it was not even recognized by the military as an arm of service! The first real indication that something was amiss came when sailors aboard USS Constitution reported seeing a large white ship standing out at sea - this would later be identified as HMS Terror which had run aground on rocks near Narragansett Bay in Rhode Island during peacetime. It wasn't long before seamen began noting strange objects moving along shorelines at high speed - these were eventually dubbed "ghost ships" or " phantom vessels". On July 4th 1801 a group of Marines aboard USS Shark set sail from Portsmouth harbor bound for Northern California but never reached their destination due to bad weather conditions en route! A few days later another group consisting of Marines under Commandant John Rodgers set sail from Portsmouth harbor for San Francisco but also never arrived at their destination due to similar weather conditions! These two incidents led to calls for a navy officer to be stationed on landto help coordinate shipping routes between commercial ports and naval bases! On October 6th 1801 Commodore James Ketchum appointed Lieutenant Commander William Biddle commanderof Naval Forces Shore Patrol Station Point Reyes lighthouse after witnessing a series of mysterious accidents while commanding frigate USS Constellation off Long Island Sound... This event would famously lead to one day in history when American seamen could finally crossInternational Boundaries without fear of being seized by hostile nations!!! In 1805 Captain John Rodgers sailed his flagship USS Dolphin through what is today known as Hurricane Lane although no damage was done!! Unfortunately such examples would become quite common leading up to wars where merchant shipping could be sunk without warning resulting in huge losses for those involved. Just prior to war with Mexico in 1846 Commodore Isaac Watts ordered his squadron comprising six warships including HMS Devonshire carrying supplies destined for Vera Cruz but none reached their destination because they encountered violent storms during transit!!! During hostilities with Japan during World War II Japanese submarines penetrated American coastal waters numerous times inflicting great loss on our commerce!!! In 1965 President Lyndon Johnson declared Christmas Day a public holiday within the Department Of Homeland Security!!!!!!!!!

Morgan Hill is a small town in the Central Valley of California, located about 40 miles east of Sacramento. It was first settled in 1853 by John Sutter and his men who were looking for a new home after leaving the Gold Rush. The name "Morgan Hill" is derived from James Morgan, an early settler. The first post office in Morgan Hill was established in 1855. The town began to grow rapidly after it became part of the newly formed Kern County on January 1, 1859. By 1870, Morgan Hill had a population of 2,000 people and was considered one of the most important agricultural towns in California. In 1865, local landowner George Hearn donated 8 acres (3 hectares) of land to build a school house and nut orchard on what is now Hearn Road. Classes started in November 1865 and continued until May 1886 when the school burned down due to bad weather conditions. In 1890, local residents voted to become part of the city of Sacramento; however, many residents decided to stay within their own community because they felt that it was more friendly and supportive than larger cities like Sacramento. During World War II, some Morgan Hill residents volunteered with the United States Army Pacific Theater Service during the Battle for Lae where they played major roles such as cooking food for troops and providing them with medical care. After World War II ended, many American citizens left Morgan Hill due to its high costs of living and lack of job opportunities; however, many original inhabitants remain today including some who still live in townspeople-style homes called "Hills."
