Morgan Hill, California is a small town in Contra Costa County, California. The population was 5,292 at the 2010 census. It is located on the east side of San Francisco Bay and is bordered by Concord to the north, Hayward to the northwest, Walnut Creek to the southeast and Pleasanton to the south. The first Europeans to visit Morgan Hill were Spanish traders in 1776. They named it Villa de las Pulgas because of someAGrable Frogs that lived nearby. In 1853, Edward Haggerty built a sawmill on Diablo Creek in what is now Morgan Hill. The mill continued operating until 1906 when it was replaced by an electric plant. The name of Morgan Hill comes from two sources: One source say that John Morgan owned land hereabouts; another claim that General Antonio Vallejo used this phrasing when he referred to a place called "Morgantown" near Bakersfield which he had explored during his 1846 mission trip across America as part ofescalation against Mexico's northern border settlement known as Chihuahua City (then Juárez). In 1852 Captain Folsom discovered Campo del Monte about 12 miles due west of wherenow Morgan Hill stands on Highway 24 between Antioch and Lafayette Streets. This site became known as Rancho Alto de la Mesa which means “Highway 24 crosses over” or “the old road went around” referring back to when it crossed over Diablo Canyon on an ancient route connecting Morro Bay with San Francisco Bay.) A year later Mexican soldiers burned down Folsom's house while he slept after discovering his discovery - thus beginning Ulysses S Grant's famous quote about " burn them all", or so they thought! Today there are several historical markers marking this event including one located just east of Interstate 680 off Old Georgetown Road just before junction with Alameda County Road 26.). In 1855 Captain Robert Treat also discovered Campo del Monte although no evidence remainsto support this claim today..Captain David Emory found Campo del Monte again in 1861 while exploring Rodeo Lake area now bounded by BART stations Milpitas and Fremont..A hotel was built at Rancho Alto de la Mesa but it burned down in 1865 probably because of Indians who had been living there prior thereto.-Another hotel was built adjacent to Pacific Gas & Electric Co.'s powerhouse southwest corner Millbrae Avenue and Harrison Street (now home of Safeway)in 1905-1906 which likely became known as Hotel Californian due to its advertising campaign featuring Jedediah Smith - father of Ulysses S Grant! By 1886 both buildings were gone having been destroyed by fire caused by lightning striking what was then Pacific Gas & Electric company`s power lines next door! Thereafter only residences developed until annexation by Contra Costa County in 1937.-Today much vestigial remains remain from pastimes here like playing softball on Ansel Adams' golf course adjacent Park Boulevard opposite current day I-680; picnicking at Moss Landing Lagoon access point off State Route 1 ; going for walks along creek banks leading up into mature oak woodlands near present day High School Drive; swimming at Los Gatos Reservoir access point off State Route 237.; cooking out under open sky atop equestrian trails overlooking scenic hillsides running through Oakland canyon etc., giving rise various local names such as "Summertime BBQ," "Vacation time BBQ," etc., etc...

It is part of the Sierra Nevada foothills region and has a rich history dating back to the 1800s. The fort became known as Johnston's Tower and served as a military base until 1881 when it was sold off to businessmen interests and became an agricultural fairgrounds known today as Discovery Farms Park . In 1902–1903, Aida Hale (1868-1923), one of America's most popular authors wrote her best-selling novel about life in Morgan Hill before its incorporation into Sierra City . During World War II (1939-1945), Morgan Hill played an important role in providing food for U.S.(AAF) forces stationed overseas: Many local citizens volunteered their time and talents throughout 1943-1945 to produce more than 370 tons of canned goods which provided sustenance for American servicemen fighting abroad; this effort helped support The United States war effort by contributing $2 million dollars
