The first production came from three claims near where today's Main Street meets Interstate 680: one on Nobles Ridge near intersections of State Highway 24 (now US 50) and Donner Pass Road; another on Potter Ridge just east of SR 392; and still another about one-half mile north-northwest of present day University Avenue off I-680 between Donner Pass Road and SR 2026 (later Foothill Boulevard). The construction boom that followed World War II caused an increase in traffic on I-680 which led to increased business opportunities for Morgan Hill merchants including Almaden Mines Ltd., Jardine Rubber Co., Standard Oil Co., National Broadcasting System Incorporated (NBC), Lawrence textiles company etc.. Development stalled after World War II but resumed later with new technology that included plastics production starting at Almaden Mines Ltd.'s Potter Ridge Mine in 1951 followed by other mines throughout the 1950s culminating with incorporation of Valley Plastics Products Corp.(VPP) adjacent to Hacienda Heights High School which produced high end plastic products such as Christmas ornaments until 2007 when operations were scaled back due to economic conditions worldwide. A branch line once ran from Fruitvale BART station through downtown Morgan Hill serving local growers markets beforeclosure in 1984 . Today buses serve downtown Morgenthau every 15 minutes taking passengers directly to Kaiser Permanente Arena without ever needing stopovers anywhere else
