Morro Bay is a small town in central California, United States. The population was 3,883 at the 2010 census. It is part of Fresno County. The Morro Bay area has been inhabited by the Tongva people since before present day. Mission San Francisco de Asís was founded in 1776 on land that now includes much of Morro Bay. In 1821, the grant to Antonio Maria del Valle was made for Rancho Magna Cerritos and it extended into what is now Morro Bay as well as parts of adjoining Tulare County. The name "Moro" comes from the tribe's traditional name for this location, "Hausaland". As early as 1849, there were reports of gold being located onshore near Morro Bay. From 1850-1858 various miners and prospectors fished in and around Morro Bay; among these were James Fenton and Charles Goodyear who discovered large quantities of gold nuggets at Anza Benguela Reef east of town in 1852 and 1853 respectively. On July 12, 1860 an ad in The Argonaut newspaper announced: "For Gold seekers - A Place Where You Will Find All That Is Most Beautiful About Our Country - Please Come To This Road Town At The Head Of Beach". In 1902 Captain John Lighthouse keeper Manuel Ortiz reported finding mollusks ("Haliotis melanoleuca") off the coast of Morro Bay due north towards Point Conception (now Sailsport). According to Ortiz's observations he had never seen anything like this before either while aboard his ship or ashore during his many years working along Santa Cruz Coast Ranges lighthouse keepers' camps during the late 1800s and early 1900s On October 21st 1915 a German submarine sunk USS Hogue off shore about southeast of where today's Marina Municipal Pier is located south side of Highway 1 between Pismo Beach and Watsonville according to local history books found on board when it sank with all hands including Commanding Officer Lt Jens Ludwig Uhlmann (20) after being spotted by lookout Carl Nielsen (27) moments prior off shore northwestward near point Loboskey which he described as resembling a “funnel” with a white glow coming out from its bow while also having several black spots dotting its stern making it difficult to tell if it was surfaced or not until after contact had been lost.. After World War II dockworkers transported goods overland from ports such as Long Beach through Sonoma County upriver to Northern California using Native American trails running parallel to Highway 101 coastal towns such as Dana Point then back downriver past Guerneville Marshalling Station then south past Sausalito until reaching Stockton Landing outside Yorba Linda where trucks unloaded onto barges which took them down river directly into Sacramento City limits without stopping at any intermediate points

Morro Bay is a small town in central California, located on the Morro Bay Peninsula. It began as a small mission outpost in 1795 and grew rapidly during the 19th century due to its strategic location at the mouth of the Santa Barbara Channel. The town was destroyed by fire in 1876, but quickly rebuilt and became an important commercial center for coastal Northwestern California. In recent years, Morro Bay has become known for its unique history, culture, and landscape. The first Europeans to visit Morro Bay were Juan Bautista de Anza and his party of soldiers on July 15, 1795. They were looking for a place to land which would provide them with food and shelter while they explored southern California. On September 4 of that year they anchored their ships off the coast of Morro Bay and set up camp. The next day they erected a small fortification called Fort Anza near where today's Morro Bay Boulevard sits. The fort was not very successful and only served as a defense against pirates who frequent the area at that time. However, it did serve as an observation post from which Spanish settlers could watch over their new colony in what is now Northern California. The original Mission San Fernando Rey de Arroyo was founded nearby on November 3rd, 1796 by Father Francisco José Sanchez y Pacheco with support from Spain under King Carlos III. The mission lasted for just six months before being converted into an Padres Church on January 9th, 1800 by Father Manuel Nieto (1768-1836). The church had two main buildings: one used for worship services and another used as an arsenal or artillery range where cannonballs were shot at ships passing through the bay. In 1826 Commodore John Doolittle led USS Constitution along with HMSloane into what is now Santa Barbara Harbor when he found documents showing Mexican traders had been trading goods up the Santa Barbara Channel since 1607! This discovery marked America's first direct contact with Asia! After exploring this harbor further he decided to tunable his ship USS Perry back northward so he could blockade Mexico City instead of sailing around Cape Horn! As you can imagine this caused quite some excitement within Mexico City!
