In 1948, Don & Shirley Kapp bought the store and continued to operate it until 1978 when they sold it to Mr. Harry Ritchie who operated it until 1984 when he sold it to old timer Bill Marriott who continue to run it as an antique store until 1997 when he donated it to the city of Morro Bay through Tax Increment Financing Program (TIF). The first gun show held in Morro Bay was on October 5th 1942 by then Mayor Tom Hennessey Jr., local baseball coach Art Holmberg and other officials from nearby towns such as Dana Point and Huntington Beach . More than 50 shooters from throughout Southern California gathered at Mrs.'s Park for a day of shooting before returning home each evening via street cars to their individual homes where they cooked dinner using ovens that heated up with either coal or woodstoves found near convenient communities like Dana Point or Huntington Beach . This event is considered the beginning of modern gun culture in Morro Bay A second annual Gun Show was held on October 17th 1946 under new management by Sam Wohlgemuth which featured both civilian exhibitors (such as wives of military personnel) as well as military equipment including tanks, artillery pieces and planes! Attendees enjoyed games such as “Clue” whiledemonstrating their collection items at various exhibits inside the fairgrounds buildings This event led directly to future events such as “Gun Show Weekend” which took place every year at different locations around town culminating in a show at Hermosillo Marine Base during February/March 2007

Morro Bay was founded on October 7, 1846 by Captain George Vancouver as a landing place for the California gold seekers. The town sprang up quickly and soon had a population of around 100 people. By 1862, the town had grown to an estimated 2,000 people and it became a key stop on the wagon train route from Sacramento to San Francisco. The town was destroyed in 1877 by fire when a large wooden stockade was built to protect settlers from Native Americans who were raiding the area. The stockade still stands today as part of Morro Bay State Beach. In 1915, Morro Bay became part of the new state of California and began to experience rapid growth. In 1920, Morro Bay lost its status as a city but it continued to grow rapidly until it reached its current size of over 200 people. Today, Morro Bay is home to several important businesses including the Kawaoka Glass Company which manufactures glassware andnaments and other items for both personal use and commercial purposes; Morro Creek Casino which offers gambling services; and two high schools – Morro Valley High School and North Coast Unified School District #2 – which offer students comprehensive education programs that include math, science, English language arts/literacy, social studies/history/political science., among others.
Morro Bay was first settled in 1847 by Manuel Nieto and his wife, Mariana. The town was named for the Morro Rock, which is located at the mouth of the bay. The rock is a natural landmark and has been used as a lookout point for centuries. In 1852, mining began in Morro Bay and soon there were concerns about water quality and potential health hazards. To address these concerns, the town built a sewage plant and chlorination works to improve water quality. In 1912, Morro Bay became an incorporated municipality with a mayor and two council members. The Morro Bay community was dissolved in 1942 when Alta California was annexed by Los Angeles County.
