In Mountain View, California, the coffee industry is a significant part of the city's economy. The birthplace of artisan coffee may be in 1875 when Carlos Valdez founded the Valdez Coffee and Tea Co. In 1917, Bob Evans Brewing Company began production in nearby Palo Alto and soon became a major player in the local market. By the early 1960s, however, Mountain View had eclipsed Palo Alto as its leading coffee center. The history of artisan coffee in Mountain View starts with Carlos Valdez. In 1875, Valdez built his first shop on Market Street in Mountain View. The Valdez Coffee & Tea Co., which was started by Carlos Valdez and his brother-in-law Tomás Rivera, sold all manner of refreshment including hot chocolate, iced tea, and coffee beans. They also manufactured crockery and other household items. Eventually some of these products were exported to other parts of the country. Bob Evans Brewing Company was founded by Bob Evans in 1917 on University Avenue in Palo Alto. It quickly became one of Santa Clara County's leading breweries with its elegant white beer cans and popular red oxide Stout beers that were brewed using whole beans instead of ground beans or Extracts available at most convenience stores at that time (though later versions included stronger flavors). By 1964 it had become such a dominant player that it acquired its own plant on El Camino Real just outside downtown Palo Alto – making it one of the largest brewing companies westofthe Mississippi River at that time (though it eventually merge with Anheuser Busch). Mountain View's rapid growth as an industrial center during World War II led to an increase in population density within walking distance of various factories located along San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit lines (including BART) which made for easy access to quality food products from neighboring cities like San Jose and Oakland while still being close enough to workaday life activities like shopping malls and schools; this contributed importantly to both business stability during those difficult postwar years while also nurturing what would become what today is known as "artisanal" coffee culture within Mountain View itself starting around 1950s/60s……….

In 1847, José Andrés Orozco and his partner Francisco Pacheco founded an early coffee plantation in what is now Mountain View. The first article referring to coffee was published in an American newspaper on December 12th, 1847. Coffee beans were roasted and ground at this early plantation for local consumption only.

There has been coffee production in the United States for over two hundred years, and it is no wonder that there are so many different types of coffee beans to choose from. There are Arabica, Robusta, Sumatra, Pecan, andothervarieties of coffee. The first recorded reference to coffee being brewed as a beverage was in 1795. Coffee became popularized within the United States during the administrations of Abraham Lincoln and James Buchanan. It was during these administrations that coffee started becoming associated with politics and First Amendment rights. After the American Civil War (1865-1877), which saw a rise in popularity for tea as a drinkable beverage, coffee began to decline as an alcoholic beverage. In 1881 Congress passed the National Coffee Act which set up tariffs on foreign goods imported into America in order to protect American industry from competition. This law also mandated that every US citizen must have at least six cups of ground coffee each year in order to maintain purchasing power within society. The next twenty years were marked by technological advances including: photography; radio; television; automobiles; and refrigeration making it possible for farmers to sell their crops directly to consumers instead of going through middlemen such as merchants or wholesalers. However, because coffee is an addicting drink, its popularity waned throughout this time period due largely to Prohibition (1912- 1933) which made it illegal to purchase or consume any form of alcohol in America without government approval. Consequently, even though coffee resumed its popularity after Prohibition ended, it would not achieve the same level of success until well into World War II when demand increased due especially towards wartime needs like gasoline and ammunition. In 1978 Starbucks opened its first store outside of North America - debuting what would become known as Starbucks Coffee culture all over the world! Mountain View, California is a city in northern San Francisco Bay Area, located on the eastern edge of Silicon Valley. With a population of over 250,000, it is the largest city in the Bay Area and one of the most populous cities in Northern California. The City of Mountain View was incorporated on August 29, 1851. The first post office at Mountain View was established on October 15th of that year. In 1863–1864, Mountain View was the site of two important battles during the Civil War: Battle of Palo Alto and Battle of Monterey Peninsula. On December 7th 1865, General George Custer's forces were defeated at the battle around Mount Lookout Ridge near present-day Fremont Street and Telegraph Avenue. In 1871–72 Alfred Dickson built a sawmill and gristmill on what is now Donner Lake within present-day Mountain View boundaries. The mill closed in 1902 but Dickson's son Gordon Dickson continued to operate it until his death in 1965. During World War II (1941-1945), several large American Air Force hangars were constructed within or adjacent to Park Meadows Cemetery within what is now Mountain View proper; these Hangar No 1 (AAF #2) being particularly notable as it housed both Boeing B-29s and Douglas DC-3s from 1945 through 1948 when those planes were moved to North America for war use only after their original construction sites had been used for other purposes such as housing during peacetime! On November 17th 1978, Mayor Dianne Feinstein announced that she would be running for re-election against then Supervisor Rick AMesch who had served since 1971; howeverAmesch won by 512 votes to 497! After her election victory Feinstein decided not to seek reelection in 1980 which allowed incumbent John Daly to win unopposed! Amongst Silicon Valley mayors never elected to more than one term are former Mayor Chuck Fletcher (1983–1991) and current Mayor Annapurna Kailashvili (2001-present). In 1990 Google metropole moves outside its traditional limits when Larry Page founded Yahoo! Mountain View, California was founded in 1795 by Captain David Montgomery as the town of Monterey. The first post office opened in 1848. In 1853, the city was renamed Mountain View after a nearby peak that had been named Mount Diablo for Major General George Scott's forces during the Mexican-American War. In 1916, the United States Postal Service moved its main post office from San Francisco to Mountain View, and it operated there until 1970. The city currently has no municipal government and is administered by a patchwork of appointed volunteer officials.
