The National Guard of California is a militia force in the United States, specifically composed of state and local law enforcement officers. The National Guard was activated on November 9, 1947 by then-Governor Earl Warren as a response to the San Francisco earthquake. It has since been deployed in support of national security efforts both domestically and abroad. National Guard members are not subject to recall or discharges for any reason, except for military service in wartime. In 1934, the National Guard was authorized to bring firearms into state capitols under certain circumstances; today this authority is exercised through the California Law Enforcement Firearms Agreement Authority (CLEFA). There are currently over 400 Guardsmen serving from 32 states across the nation. The first units organized under the auspices of the National Guard were trained at Camp Roberts near Sacramento during World War II. Afterward, units were sent to various points around America where they provided security for government officials and other important figures until put on full alert status in 1962 when President John F Kennedy activated them to respond to any potential threats related to Cuba’s missile program. In 1971, resources were diverted from regular State Police forces in order to provide more manpower and equipment for Operation Neptune’s Spear which targeted Kim Il Sung’s North Korea regime. As a result of these deployments, many Guardsmen became friends with their fellow officers and developed close personal relationships that have continued into our current day. During peacetime there are no active duty missions or deployments associated with organized functions within the National Guard; however unit commanders maintain communication with each other throughout California via secure radio waves as part of an emergency response system known as Community Wide Alert (CWAL). CWAL allows commanders quick notification of conditions statewide so that all Guardsmen can be mobilized rapidly should an event occur that requires their presence or assistance statewide

It is important to note that there are two types of National Guardsmen- active duty and reserve members. Reserve members can be called up at any time for purposes such as training or service within their state militia forces. Active duty members are typically required to serve out their entire enlistment period (usually three years). National City is a city in San Bernardino County, California, United States. The population was 32,651 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Riverside–San Bernardino Metropolitan Statistical Area. National City was founded by Mexicans in 1871 as Nacogdoches and became an American city on October 25, 1912 with the merger of two other Mexican settlements: Alta Vista and La Canada. The first post office in National City opened on December 3, 1872. The name "National City" was chosen because it was proposed by General John Pemberton during his visit to San Diego on November 21st, 1870; he had been sent to explore possible new locations for military posts in California and Arizona when he learned that Mexico would not recognize US independence from Spain until January 1st, 1871. On July 15th 1870 - almost four years after America's entry into World War I - General Pemberton gave a speech at Monterey park discussing future military plans for the Southern Border region of California In 1941 National City began playing host to Air Force Base El Toro which housed more than 6500 enlisted personnel and their families along with its own library system serving all three commands within AFB El Toro plus numerous annexes throughout southern Orange County (then known as Los Alamitos). In 1966-1967 USAF photojournalist Don Armstrong photographed portions of what is now Edwards AFB while stationed there as a photographer with United Press International (UPI). That same year also saw the opening of what remains today one of America's largest shopping malls when mall developer Sam Goodrich merged parts from two other local malls located in Costa Mesa – King's Plaza and Town Square. According to some historians this marked the beginning of El Toro becoming primarily a military base rather than just an agricultural center providing jobs for locals despite its ability to provide convenient stores for civilian residents living near Lackland AFB nearby
