The Newark, California Coast Guard Station has been providing a service to the community for over 60 years. The Coast Guard Station is responsible for law enforcement, maritime security and environmental protection in the city of Newark. In 1915, the first coast guard station was built on what is now Harbor Boulevard. The Coast Guard Station was given its current name in 1959 when it moved from its original location on Second Street to its present-day location on First Street. In 1988, the City of Newark dedicated a new headquarters building to the Coast Guard Station. This building housed administrative and support functions for the Coast Guard Station until 2002 when it was replaced by a new structure that houses the Commandant’s office and barracks. Today, there are four coast guard stations located throughout Newark: one at Harbor Boulevard/Second Street; one at Third Avenue/Lakehurst Avenue; one at Fourth and Lincoln Streets; and one at Fifth Avenue/Newark Bay Road. Additionally, there are two park patrol stations located in Newark: One located at First Avenue/Third Street and another located at Sixth Avenue/Old Bridge Road.

The Newark California Coast Guard Station was founded on December 21, 1922 by Captain George Fetterman. It served as a station in the town of Newark and was later moved to its present location on the Delaware River. The station became operational with only eight officers and fifty-six enlisted men. In 1951 the station was renamed to Gateway Beach Coxswain's Mate Training School when it replaced an old training school at Point State Park. In 1978 the Coast Guard transferred control of Gateway Beach Coxswain's Mate Training School to the City of Newark for use as a city recreation area. The City of Newark closed Gateway Beach Coxswain's Mate Training School in 1992 but kept part of it as a museum which is open to the public every day from 9am to 4pm.
Newark, California is a city in the San Joaquin Valley of eastern California. The population was 17,827 at the 2010 census and it is the seat of Alameda County. Newark was founded by Hernando de Soto in 1824 as part of his attempt to find an open route to the east coast through what is now Fresno and Bakersfield. It became a prospering agricultural town with its own cotton gin, bank and insurance company until Fires destroyed most of downtown in 1906. After years of redevelopment led by Mayor Cory Booker (D) and City Councilmember Ras Baraka (D), Newark experienced rapid growth in the 2000s when it became one of America's fastest-growing cities. The economy has diversified since then, with sectors such as technology, information technology, professional services and healthcare making up a significant portion of its GDP. In recent years there has been tension between residents over development projects such as high-rise housing developments that have obscured views of nature or contaminated water supplies while also causing air pollution issues;[1] however, overall Newark enjoys strong support from both local politicians and the community itself. The history of Newark began with Hernando de Soto's attempt to find an open route to the east coast through what is now Fresno and Bakersfield. The area was rich with natural resources including cottonwood trees which were used for rope, cloth and other products,[2] but these properties did not provide enough revenue to support a permanent settlement. De Soto attempted to establish himself on land grant he had acquired from Bernardino Criollo in 1824,[3] but this failed as well due to lack of interest from either Mexico or California.[4][5] In 1828 de Soto returned northward along present day I-80 into central California after hearing reports that gold had been discovered near Sacramento.[6][7] He found evidence that gold had been found at Coloma on December 12th, 1828,[8][9][10], so he decided to move his camp northward towards what is now Sacramento County in order find more suitable land for his colony.[11][12] On January 24th 1830 he founded Santiago de Atascadero on mud flats near modern day Fremont Street due to concerns about possible hostile Apache Indians living nearby.[13][14]:329–330 When De Soto arrived he found only scattered bands of Native Americans living among some 1500 Spanish colonists who were still farming wild rice fields along present day US-101 south of San Francisco Bay. Although there were some initial problems with communication due to difficult terrain and language difficulties,[15]:331–332 De Soto quickly formed relationships with several native chiefs including Jan Febvre’s father-in-law Coyotecila Pico (1797–1860).[16]:428 When news reached him that Spain was losing control over portions of North America following Mexican independence DeSoto ordered all his men back home Nicolas José Martinez y Uribe(1786/87 – 1850)[17]:302–303 Martinez served as governor general during García Márquez's presidency from 1951 until 1954 during which time he started construction on Los Angeles' first ever skyscraper known today as El Grito (the Hill).[18]:351 By late 1830 over 150 smallpox cases had been reported among Spanish colonists living along US 101 southwestern corner near where Newark would later be established[19]:337 A major outbreak occurred just prior departed Christmas 1800 when 300 people contracted smallpox within days after exposure from trade caravan passing through northeastern Sierra Nevada Mountains

As the world's oldest coast guard force, the Coast Guard has a rich history that can be found in gifts, donations, and other forms of support. The following year saw the donation of USS Constitution which served as the first USCG ship to dock at Governors Island. One of the most notable gifts given by a coastal guard officer was Lieutenant General James Smeaton's donation of USS Amazon during World War II. This donation allowed American forces to use British-built ships for their Operation Neptune's Spear offensive against Japan. In addition to donations and vessels, many individuals have contributed items such as uniforms or equipment along with monetary donations over time. These include Generals David Petraeus and George W Bush as well as Admiral Rick Darell heading up Washington D C's Naval District Commandant program.

In 2015 Forbes estimated that Newark's median household income was $85,394 In 1847 Peter Minter founded what would become known as Newark after moving there with his family from Scranton Township in Pennsylvania. At first the town consisted only of their farmstead which they used for storage until they could build a more permanent structure. One year later they started making bricks at their farmstead while waiting for construction supplies that would come through waterboat upriver which they built themselves using materials brought over by traders working along the creek. They also soon became involved in shipping goods downriver transportable cargoes made popular by steamboats during this time period called felonships which were large open air boats with sails that transported goods throughout much of California's interior during summer months when river traffic was low. The towns growth continued due to these two factors; business opportunities available due to new transportation options opened up within commuting distance as well as newly found sources of natural resources like coal and oil in nearby states like Nevada and Wyoming – all offering attractive prices for land when purchased – driving development westward into present day Essex County towards downtown Newark proper where homes were being built starting around 1850s ADrisenwald also had five alleyways leading off Broad Street running perpendicular to each other one going south/west direction between Market Street & State Street another going north/south between Liberty Avenue & Northumberland Avenue another going east/west between Queen Anne’s Highway & Pearl streets This unusual layout allowed businesses street level access onto broadwalk areas providing easy public transit connection across any neighborhood currently serving residents primarily via horse drawn carts or pedestrians walking Thesesideways Commercial Streets Frontage On Broadwalk property lines served both residential neighborhoods within walking distance OF central business district while remaining largely commercial outlying areas service mainly single family residences today still enjoying wide sidewalks Frontage On Cedar Grove Road serving predominantly agricultural properties concurrently once important thoroughfare linking all major industrial centers including Wilmington Naval Shipyard & otheressing points along creek mouth Today very few if any remnants remain except for some historic buildings listed herein
