In 1969, Newman was named one of the "Best Coffee Towns in America" by Life magazine and is now known for its artisanal coffee products. The first espresso machine was built in 1895 by Angelo Nardi, who also founded the Nardi Group of companies that produces Italian wines and pasta sauces. In 1922, Angelo's son Giuseppe started selling roasted beans direct to customers from his family's farm in nearby Davisville. By 1928, Giuseppe had relocated the company to its present location on College Avenue in Newman. The Nardi family operated their businesses together until 1965 when Giovanni sold his interest to John Fenton-Brewster and began production of Java Coffee beans at his bakery on Second Street. From this point forward, Newman became a source for high-quality coffees from all over the world. Today, Newman’s artisanal coffee industry continues to grow and develop with new technologies that allow growers more control over their crops and improved production methods that result in more consistent quality cups every time. Newman, California is a small town located in the Central Valley of California. It is bounded by Fresno County to the east, Kern County to the west, and Mono County to the north. The population was 8,592 at the 2010 census. The Newman community began as a farming village founded in 1876 by Elias Latham Newman and his wife AnnaMaria. It grew rapidly during World War II due to its proximity to Los Alamos National Laboratory, which was then part of General Electric. The city’s infrastructure has been built on agriculture, with a large cotton crop and hay production continuing until recently. However, recent years have seen growth in light manufacturing and technology sectors such as software development and information technology. In addition to its agricultural roots, Newman also has a significant African American population that has played an important role in both local economy and culture. Newman first came into contact with Christianity when he moved from Connecticut with his family for religious reasons in 1882. He became an evangelical pastor at nearby Morningside Church before moving to Newman Center in 1907 where he started New Testament Bible College. From 1912-1914 he served as president of Claremont Seminary (now Claremont Graduate University). After leaving Newman Center he took up residence near Livermore in what is now North Livermore Boulevard between Seventh Street and Eighth Street. There he founded Trinity Evangelical Lutheran School (later renamed Anderson University) and established theological seminaries including Denver Theological Seminary (later Anderson University), Southern Methodist University (Dallas), Wheaton College (Chicago), Harding University (Las Vegas)and Fuller Theological School( later Fuller Divinity School). His work within the evangelical church led him to coin the term "evangelical" which entered common usage among Protestants after World War I while still being used by Catholics who considered themselves Catholic but who adopted this name because it fit their ideology more closely than "orthodox." Newman's philosophy focused on human dignity rather than salvation through works alone; instead humans must repent their sins and be baptized according to Jesus' teachings if they were ever going to be saved regardless of whether or not they followed any specific set path throughout their lives As President of Brown Chapel Presbyterian Church from 1951-1965 he helped found Dignity Christian Fellowship which helps homeless people receive food stamps so that they can eat dignified food without having negative consequences such as weight gain or addiction In 1957 he met Dr Martin Luther King Jr., Jr., who would become one of his most famous disciples After serving as chancellor of Regent's Park Baptist Church from 1966-1970 there was a growing rift within Protestantism over John F Kennedy's presidency over issues such as civil rights; however after Nixon's election as president several elements within Protestantism finally accepted Nixon albeit under different terms In 1990 Father Francis Collins was appointed Director of Human Genetics Research at Harvard Medical School which eventually led directlyto creation of Human Genome Project . Numerous other changes have occurred within Protestant denominations since then culminating with current trends towards liberal theology .

Newman was founded in 1847 by the Methodist Episcopal Church, and became one of the most important towns in California. The town's rich Gold Rush history is reflected in its many buildings, including the New England style Main Street Bank and Theater, which still stands today. Newman also has a number of historical landmarks, such as the Newman Cemetery and Congregationalist Church.
Newman was founded on December 3, 1853 by Andrew Newman and his wife, Mary. The town was named in honor of General George A. Newman who had led the American forces in the Mexican-American War and later served as a United States Congressman from California. The first post office opened in the town on March 15, 1854. By 1865, New Mexico had become a part of the United States and much of what is now California was annexed to that state. In 1868, Andrew Newman donated land to build a charter school which became known as Northridge High School. In 1934, Northridge High School closed due to budget cuts and the town lost its only high school. In 1941, former mayor Phillip Wohlker donated land adjacent to Yesler Park for use as an open air public park. The park has been called "The Gables" since then because of its unique architecture. Today, Newman is home to a number of businesses including Verizon Wireless (VZ) headquarters and Northridge Elementary School which serves students from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade
