The business was originally located on Southern Avenue in Newport Beach. In 1971, DonutShop moved to its current location on Doheny Drive near Interstate 5. Today, DonutShop continues to be one of the most beloved businesses in Newport Beach with over 400 customers! Blue Bottle Coffee began brewing their first cup of coffee in 1997 and still operates today as one of the most popular cafes in town. Blue Bottle is known for its unique flavor profile which includes strong black coffees, Italian blends, and specialty Roasts. Blue Bottle also offers a wide range of delicious food options including salads, sandwiches, pizzas, drinks like beer flights and sangria, and more! Peet's Coffee was founded by John Peet Sr., who opened his first retail store called "The Peet's Place" on Commercial Street near State Route 381 back in 1955. John Peet Jr.'s sons continued the family tradition by opening their own stores throughout Orange County starting with "The John Peel Store" on Disneyland Boulevard near Anaheim Hills Boulevard back in 1968. The first coffeehouses were founded here in 1824 by Antoine Cordonnier and his brother-in-law, Jean Baptiste Bochet. These coffeehouses served as a meeting place for local businessmen and professionals, as well as customers who bought their coffee direct from the roasters. In 1851, John Fenton opened the first café in Newport Beach. This café was soon followed by others throughout the town, and it became one of the most popular tourist destinations in Orange County. In 1906, Antoine Cordonnier and his son took over management of the cafés in Newport Beach. They continued to serve delicious espresso drinks until their deaths in 1943 and 1949 respectively. During these years, many talented people worked at these cafes – such as artists like Edward Hopper and Roy Lichtenstein; musicians like Benny Goodman and Woody Guthrie; actors like Humphrey Bogart and Lana Turner; and writers like William Saroyan and Carl Van Vechten. Many of these people contributed greatly to Newport Beach’s unique culture during its early days.
Newport Beach, California is a city located in Orange County, California. It was originally founded in 1892 by John W. Dunlap and his family as the town of Newport on the Irvine River. The population increased rapidly in the early 1900s due to its location at the mouth of the Irvine River, and by 1910 Newport had become an independent city. In 1986, Newport Beach merged with neighbouring Laguna Niguel to form a single city with a combined population of over 375,000 people. The original inhabitants of Newport were Native American traders and their descendants who called themselves "the Puebloans." In 1892 John W. Dunlap built a small cabin on land he purchased from the government for $1 per acre (2¢ per foot). A few years later he married Anna Jarvis and moved into his new home with his wife and four children. By 1914 they had added another child, Dorothy Jane Dunlap. Newport Beach is a small town in Orange County, California. It was established in 1907 by William Fenton and his brother-in-law, Augustus H. Waddington. The town grew rapidly during the 1920s and 1930s as people commute to work in nearby Los Angeles. By the early 1990s, Newport Beach's population had declined to about 10,000 from over 15,000. However, its growth potential has been revived by new businesses and residents moving into the area over the past few years. Newport Beach was originally named after the English city of Portsmouth on England's south coast. In 1906, Fenton purchased 2 acres (0.8 km2) of land at 3rd Street and Ocean Boulevard in Newport Beach for $5 per acre (1/4 of a hectare). The first house built on the property was called "Beach House", but it burned down in 1923. In 1927, Waddington donated an additional 0.8 km2 (3 acres) of land to Newport Beach for $10 per acre (1/4 of a hectare). This parcel included what is now Fourth Street between High Street and Pacific Avenue. The two parcels were combined to form what is now Newport Beach Boulevard today. The townsite name change occurred on November 1, 1927 when James Irvine granted title deeds for "Newport Beaches" to all those who contributed money or offered their services towards development of the community center which would later be known as Irvine Park East Elementary School; Third Street Baptist Church; Fire Station No 2; United States Post Office -later renamed PCH Regional Medical Center- with Mrs Jane Goodall serving as postmistress until her death in 1974; Christmastime Tree Lighting Ceremony at First Baptist Church on December 5th 1946 by then Mayor John Kalogridis

By World War I, Newport Beach had become an important military installation due to its location on the California-Oregon border and its position as a staging ground for American Expeditionary Forces during World War I.
