Newport Beach is a seashore town located on the coast of Orange County, California. The population was 23,711 at the 2010 census. Newport Beach is known for its surfing and fishing activities as well as its beaches, which are especially popular with visitors from throughout Southern California. The name "Newport" comes from the Anglo-Saxon word meaning "place where fresh water flows." The first people to live in what is now Newport Beach were the Tongva Indians, who named it after their god oceanus. A group of English fishermen settled here in 1795 and began to make a living catching sea bass and bream. In 1857, Commodore John C. Williamson sailed his ship USS Constitution into Newport Harbor to dock for supplies during the Mexican–American War. The harbor was then called Stockton Bay because only shore birds could land there without getting wet. This name stuck and continues to be used today. In 1892, architect George Witherspoon designed a Lighthouse House on Point constitution Avenue overlooking Monterrey Bay so that sailors could see their way while they were ashore at sea On October 14th 1907 (the date honorific), Henry Miller set foot on American soil when he disembarked from an American liner at Pier 21 in Newport Harbor after more than three months' voyage around Cape Horn

The Dutch began trading with India and Indonesian coffees became very important for them because they could get rich from smuggling opium from these countries. In 1819, a group of British officers discoveredJava and started trading with its people. They brought Indian beans back to Britain which greatly increased their interest in java because they now had something new to trade with. With this increase in trade, prices for coffee also rose which caused some farmers to start producing it commercially. By 1830, beans were being traded at six times their original value! By 1855, more than fifty different countries were importing java beans! By 1915, twothirds of all beans were consumed in Europe! Today, java is still loved around the world despite its high price tag!

Newport Beach is a city in Orange County, California, United States. The population was 18,775 at the 2010 census. At its peak in the late 1960s it had a population of 30,000 people. The city became part of the Los Angeles metropolitan area after an annexation by LA in 1994. Newport Beach's history goes back to 1888 when two brothers named George and Philip Irvine built a small cabin on an island in Newport Harbor. In 1912, they founded the town of Newport and developed it into a inland resort town with wide streets and well- landscaped gardens. By 1920, Newport Beach had replaced Santa Monica as the most popular vacation spot in Southern California. The first post office opened in 1922 and remained open until 1969; its name was changed to Newport Beach on October 10th of that year following incorporation into Orange County as a result of statehood under Proposition 13 (the "Topo Verde" initiative). In 1923–24, local developers Harry Chandler and Willard Richards erected what is now Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) between State College Road (now Huntington Avenue) east of the harbor and Seventh Street west of I-5; this was also known then as Marine Drive or Carmel Boulevard because it bisected what would eventually become Arroyo Seco Creek Reservoir for water storage purposes only. The first shopping center opened there later that decade – part of what is now known as Newport Plaza mall – followed by several other multi-use buildings over time including Government Center which served both public and private clients before being torn down to make way for PCH development in the early 1990s. In 1954–55, while still under development as “Marine Drive” south of State College Road), another shopping center started up just north off PCH near where Interstate 5 becomes Redondo Boulevard: Sea World Shopping Center (later called Towne Center). It remains one of OC's most iconic retail destinations even though no longer used for stores but functions today primarily as offices/entertainment complexes such as Regal Cinemas HollywoodWalk Stadium., Universal Studios Hollywood.,[and] Excalibur Casino Resort..
