The United States Air Force (USAF) has been deploying gifts to its service members on a regular basis since the early days of the USAF. In Oakdale, California, the AFB gift history begins with AIR FORCE GIFT HISTORY FILE - Airmen and their families enjoy a variety of USAF-issued items during Christmas at Lackland AFB in Texas in 1941. In 1947, when the Korean War began, ACTING MAJOR GENERAL JOHN L. MALONE activated the 1st Air Division (Air Service) at Wright-Patterson AFB in Ohio to provide airlift for American troops fighting in that conflict. This unit was also responsible for gifting items such as radios and cigarettes to airmen stationed abroad. The 1st Air Division's gift history continued through the years with various deployments throughout Southeast Asia and NATO missions. By 1968, most of USAF's military branches had their own Gift History files which were used by commanders to oversee and manage deployed gifts. However, ANG units still received donations from their parent base until 1990 when all ANG units became part of AFGHANISTAN AIR FORCE under an overall unified command structure called CENTCOM HQ located at MacDill AFB Florida. Since then, many similar vintage USAF gift histories have been preserved by museums across America where they can be enjoyed today by visiting these special places or reading about them online! Some interesting highlights from our recent past include: RAF Donnington Park donated two Spitfires Mk XVIs each in 1987 as a show of appreciation for RAF support over Europe during Operation Overlord; THE UNITED STATES ARMY'S FIRST GIFT TO A SERVICE member - SON OF A BATTALION NCO - WHEN HIS FAMILY RECEIVED AN AMOUNT OF $1,000 IN WOWDERFUL GUNS AND GEAR FELTS FROM THE ARMY YARDSTOCK IN DALLAS IN 1945; PREMIER FLIGHT COUNSELOR JAMES GORDON DONATED HIS HELICOPTER TO THE MILITARY AS PART ofhis "Gift Of The Year" Awards program in 1992; TACOMA AREA BASE GIVEN TWO PILOTS ITSELF CONTRIBUTING 2 EUROS TO SUPPORT OUR PRESENT WAR FIGHTING OPERATIONS THROUGH THEIR PURCHASE OF KNIFE SETS FROM GERMANY; AND... LAST BUT NOT LEAST...THE UNITED STATES NAVY'S FIRST APPEARANCE ON AMERICAN SOCCER Stadium Field During The 2007 World Cup When THEY GIVEN US ARMY MEDALS AS A GREAT THANK YOU FOR ALL THAT WE HAVE DONE FOR THEM OVER THE YEARS!
In the year 2019, the United States Air Force (USAF) deployed a gift to the people of Afghanistan. The air force gifted two C-130J strategic Airlift aircraft and four cargo containers to be used as a ambulances in support of medical relief efforts in Afghanistan. This donation is one of many that have been made by the USAF in support of Operation Safe Haven.
The United States Air Force deployed a gift history in Oakdale, California on December 5, 2017. The gift history was sent as part of the Santa Ana National Forest's "Christmas in the Park" celebration. This year's event happened during the Feast of Holy Cross and it was dedicated to servicemen and women who have served in the local military or support our troops abroad through veteran events throughout the year. There were festive performances by local choirs, games for children, food trucks and more. In addition to giving away gifts, there were also many opportunities for people to get involved including making Christmas cookies ornaments or decorating gingerbread houses.

The DGHC was created to document the deployment gift history of US military members and their families around the world. Today, there are over 1,500 items in the DGHC, including cigars, liquor, maps, medals, toys and more. Each item tells a unique story about how one individual or family member contributed to an allied victory or helping define US military doctrine during an eventful period in Americanhistory. The AFB staff is dedicated to preserving these artifacts for future generations and making sure that everyone who visits our museum can learn more about this fascinating century-old tradition.

Oakdale is a small town in the Central Valley of California. It was founded in 1859 by wagon train travelers on the banks of the Sacramento River. The town has grown since then, and now includes a population of around 60 residents. Oakdale's history is reflection of its surrounding community - an agricultural area that has seen dramatic changes over time. The first permanent settler in what would become Oakdale was Captain John Fremont, who explored the area in 1849. He named his new land Rancho San Francisco de las Bañadas after Bay City, Michigan, where he had been born two years earlier. The following year, Captain Fremont's family came to live in what would become Oakdale and started a cotton farm. The early settlers were primarily German immigrants who arrived during the 19th century through Ellis Island and other ports of entry. By 1860, there were five families living in Oakdale - three from Germany and two from Italy - along with ten horses and eight cows. In 1881, businessman Josiah Gregg purchased 400 acres near the town center for $5 per acre; this property would later be known as Gregg Park. In 1886, American inventor Jacob Riis opened his successful dry goods store at 6057 Sutter Street in Oakland which became one of America's first department stores. In 1901, Mayor Harry Chandler donated 50 acres to the town for public use; this land eventually became Gallagher Park (named for Chandler). The 20th century saw big changes for Oakdale as it experienced rapid growth due to increased transportation options and easy access to jobs outside the city limits. The First World War interrupted these growth patterns but soon afterwards things began to resume normalcy with businesses opening up and people returning home from abroad. During this time period oakdalers formed their own civic organizations such as theirown fire department (1915), high school (1921), post office (1925), middle school (1945), library (1950) and Chamber Of Commerce (1956). A decade later things took another turn when Proposition 13 made it illegal for city officials to raise taxes above 4% without voter approval; this did not sit well with many people who felt they were being taxed unfairly while their counterparts within the city received tax breaks on a much more common basis (>10%. This situation escalated into violence between citizens and local government officials which ultimately led to Governor Jerry Brown ordering law enforcement into action.). During these years some major businesses closed down including Gregg Park's Jacob Riis Store which went out of business due largely to competition from Wal-Mart Stores Inc.; however other businesses such as Bob Evans Restaurants & Craftsman Tools moved into those vacated spaces until all traces of that store have vanished today except for occasional items still found lying around inside its former parking lot! One can only imagine how valuable those tools once were! Another major hit during this period was when Local Furniture Outlet went bankrupt due mostly to low sales caused by prohibition; however similar failures occurred at other smaller businesses throughoutOakdale like Joe's Pizza which also closed down briefly during prohibition but reopened successfully thereafter! Despite these setbacks though there continued significant growth status quo thanks largely to advances in technology such as TV set production lines starting up back at Riis' store which helped spawn numerous new small businesses over time! Overall Oakdale managed relatively stable economic conditions until about 1960 when newlyweds Jeannie OBrien & John Hawkinson decided they wanted children so they relocated away from downtown Oakland leaving behind a rapidly changing community that continuesDaddy Cool Kids today... sorta
