Oakdale, located in the foothills of California's Central Valley, is a small town with a large coffee industry. The town was established in 1887 by Dutch farmers who began growing coffee beans in their gardens. By 1923, Oakdale had become one of the largest coffee producing towns in the United States. The first known espresso machine was built in 1897 by Giovanni Battista della Porta and others at the bakery on Main Street in Oakdale. In 1912, Angelo Magnifico opened his own espresso shop on Third Street near downtown. In 1928, Angelo Morelli and his son Julius started manufacturing their own espresso machines under the name "Morelli Bros." In 1944, Julius Morelli passed away and his son took over operations of the business. The company continued to produce espresso machines until it closed its doors in 1975. Today, there are several cafes that serve up unique gourmet coffee drinks made with fresh-roasted beans from various origins around the world. Oakdale is a small city in the Central Valley of California, located about 26 miles north of Sacramento. As of the 2010 census, the population was 17,567. The name Oakdale comes from the Native American word "oak," meaning "a stand of tall trees." Oakdale was founded in 1849 by John C. Fremont and his men as a stopping place on their journey from Los Angeles to San Francisco. In 1874, J.P. Morgan established an orangeery here and later donated land for a municipal park that became known as Central Park today. The townspeople built a school and post office in 1876, joined by two churches in 1881-82: First Congregational United Methodist Church and then First Baptist Church (now Christ Episcopal Cathedral). The railroad arrived in 1907 and soon Transportation Company began operating passenger cars linking Oakland with Fresno, Bakersfield, Stockton, Merced County and other points eastward. Passenger service ended when Amtrak took over operations in 1971. In 1962-1964 three contestants on "The Dating Game" were residents of Oakdale: Lenore Taylor (later Mrs. Jack Benny), Dennis Day (later Mr. Ed McMahon) and Nancy Sinatra; all three eventual winners went onto star roles on television programs throughout the 1960s & 1970s including "The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson". On February 25th1976 two brothers - Michael Anthony Farmer and Ivanhoe Anthony Farmer - set off explosives at a power plant near Stockton which left one worker dead & four injured after hours of work during what is now called Valentine's Day Massacre; this event thrust Oakdale into national spotlight because it was one of the first terrorist attacks to occur within the United States up until 9/11/2001 .

Oakdale is a small town in the southern San Joaquin Valley, located about 25 miles northeast of Fresno and 50 miles northwest of Stockton. The population was 9,868 at the 2000 census. It was founded in 1858 by John Waddell and his family as an agricultural community on Rancho San Pablo. In 1906, Oakdale became part of the new City of Fresno. The population reached 21,000 by 1990 but has declined since then to 10,868 people as of 2015. The first buildings in what would become Oakdale were built around 1858 by John Waddell and his family on rancho San Pablo. They were used for animal husbandry and storage until 1884 when they were donated to the city for use as a schoolhouse and post office. In 1906, when Fresno became a municipality, it passed an ordinance providing that all public buildings be dedicated to "democracy, education, morality and patriotism." Consequently, the original schoolhouse was renamed City Hall and the post office was renamed Municipal Building #1. In 1911-12 both buildings were added to the National Register of Historic Places under title "Oakdale School House" (later renamed Provincial Hall) because they had been acquired as part of property owned by Bishop George Weems who served as pastor at First Presbyterian Church in Fresno from 1909-1911. The Weems property included land now occupied by City Hall Annex which replaced Municipal Building #1 after it burned down in 1936; also known as Old Main Annex or Memorial Auditorium which replaced Municipal Building #2 following its demolition in 1971 pursuant to city code §7-101(a). After World War II suburban growth began moving downtownward through comingling of earlier subdivisions including those now constituting portions of eastside streets such as E Street between North Avenue and south avenue culminating with constructionof Interstate 5 in 1962 effectively cutting off most access east side residents had enjoyed before that time while also repping increased crime rates within jurisdictions adjoining I5 north corridor creating unique problems for future generations still living within incorporated cities today faced with similar dilemmas faced when freeway construction first came along

The town also saw growth in its social services sector, with churches, schools, and orphanages being built throughout the early years of its existence. In 1937, Oakdale became an incorporated city under the name of Sacramento.
