Oakdale is a small town in Inyo County, California, United States. The population was 553 at the 2010 census. Oakdale is located on the eastern edge of the San Gabriel Valley and its elevation is 5,804 feet (1,812 m). It sits within Angeles National Forest. The community was founded in 1887 by George W. Oakley and his wife Matilda Caird as a wagon stop on the scenic route between Los Angeles and points east. Mr. Oakley built himself a cabin near what is now known as Knotts Boulevard to store goods he acquired along the way. By 1915, when elected officials realized that there would be an increasing demand for goods brought into Angeles from out of state by farmers and ranchers, they decided to build their own depot on I-10 just outside of town limits so that customers could pick up items directly from local farmer's markets or bring them in on wagons. The first post office opened in 1889 and closed in 1893 due to lack of mail delivery service; it reopened under new management several years later with mail service from Midway Airport until 1955 when all mail services were discontinued because of budget cuts caused by World War II efforts to reduce troop numbers domestically. In 1916, Mrs. Oakley donated land adjacent to her home inside what is now downtown Oakdale for use as a park which still exists today; it has been used for public recreation including baseball games, dances, plays etc., ever since. I-10 Freeway widening project began in 1989 & completed in 1995; this added extra lanes (2nd & 4th) across US 101W from Pasadena/Atascadero Freeways making it much more difficult for drivers trying to get around town center without causing long delays during rush hour!

Oakdale is a small town in Kern County, California, located about 20 miles east of Bakersfield. The population was 10,521 at the 2010 census. The name Oakdale has been given to a number of places in Kern County including: -Oakdale High School -Oakdale Stadium -Oakhurst Ranch -Oakhurst Vineyards The first settlers in what is now Oakdale were people from Oregon who began arriving in 1848. They named their new land "Oregon Valley" after the state they were coming from. By 1860, there were over 100 families living in and around what is now Oakdale. In 1881, the federal government designated this area as part of the so called Central Valley Project to provide water for farmers and other purposes. This project would eventually lead to the creation of Fresno and Bakersfield. The few remaining pioneer families started marketing their food products such as raising chickens and packing meat into sacks for shipment throughout southern California. By 1900, there were only six families left in Oakdale with a total population of 904 people. However, by 1910 there had grown to 12 families with a total population of 1712 people; all but one still lived within a five mile radius of each other on main streets that ran through central town square (now downtown). There was also an elementary school which served grades K-8 until it closed in 1939 due to budget cuts by then Governor Earl Warren concurrent with World War II efforts to boost agricultural production statewide. Most businesses closed during that time period as well as most residences since farming became more difficult due to changes in market prices and technology advancements like photosynthesis that increased corn yields while reducing need for water use outside cultivation
