That all changed on New Year's Day when Mark Collier opened his local hardware store and started selling firearms to locals and visitors. It wasn't long before other stores followed suit, and Oakdale became one of the mostgun-happy cities in America. The story of how Oakdale became so safe for gun owners starts with its mayor, Bob Giannini. When Giannini took office in 1994, he decided that Oakdale needed to be as gun free as possible to ensure that everyone had an equal opportunity to enjoy life without fear of being attacked with a firearm. The mayor made sure that city ordinances were designed specifically to protect gun owners from infringements by neighboring towns or businesses. Giannini also made it a priority to support our community's Second Amendment rights. In May 1998, he vetoed a bill that would have prevented law enforcement from confiscating firearms from citizens who had not been convicted of a felony or violated any other ordinance. This veto illustrates Giannini's dedication to protecting our right to bear arms – even if it means going against popular opinion. Oakdale is a small city in the San Joaquin Valley of California, United States. The population was 26,733 at the 2010 census. It is part of the greater Fresno metropolitan area. Oakdale is located northwest of Fresno and east of Bakersfield. The first Europeans to visit what is now Oakdale were Jesuit missionaries from Mexico who established a mission in 1795. A post office was founded here in 1825 and the town received its name from General James O'Keefe, who led an American military expedition against Mexican forces at this site on October 16, 1827. The town's first store was built in 1829. In 1847, oak trees were being grown for lumber near where the current Elmira Street stands today; it wasn't until after John Sutter discovered gold near Woodland Hills that people realized how valuable these trees were and began to build homes around them. The following year saw another milestone when Sutter founded the Northern Pacific Railroad through Oakdale and nearby Elma; this helped bring many new settlers into the area, including Henry Eames (later to become president of Warner Bros.), Allen Lane (founder of Lane & Lane cigars), Wm Hite (the founder of Hollywood movie studio Paramount Pictures), and others who would help make Oakdale one of America's most important farming communities during its early years. In 1907, construction began on what would be known as Downtown Oakdale which included a large public square with a theater and other businesses such as a bank, grocery store and drugstore. The downtown area slowly became more commercialized over time as well as becoming more congested with traffic from both residents and visitors alike taking up much space inside or outside the buildings- eventually leading to exterior issues such as water infiltration into building ceilings which caused extensive damage over time culminating in an evacuation order for some residents in 2013 due to concerns about dangerously high levels of Lead Poisoning within their community center! That same year also saw significant progress made when two schools opened: Indian School District #1’s Jackson Elementary School operated by Cherokee nuns (now St Ignatius Catholic High School) next door while Morningside Heights Senior High School – open since 1911 – moved into its own building just southwest of downtown on Elmira Street after years of struggle between school officials and developers! Finally, only four years later Disneyland opened up across Highway 99 just west of downtownOakdale making it all but inevitable that Downtown Oakdale would soon become home to one or more major tourist attractions! In 1916 Driscoll organized a group called " Anglo-Saxon Protective Association" which aimed to improve racial harmony among different ethnic groups living inOakdalismeanwhilehe started developing his business idea for 'A gentleman’s club for fraternal conservation'. On November 6th 1920 he met fellow entrepreneur Clarence Darrow at an old mill southwest corner Market Street/Highway 99 where they hatched plans for 'Downtown Oaks National Monument'. They purchased 4 acres east side Main Street lot from J H Stuart & Sons general mercantile company along with 2 other parcels adjoining it on 3rd Avenue - totaling 12 acres - forming what would come to be known as 'National Park'. This park gradually increased size over time reaching its present acreage by 1930 when it encompassed 54 contiguous acres! After World War II ended development slowed again until suburban growth resumed in the late 1960s resulting ultimatelyinthelossofpark acreage beginningin1970.-Today much less than half original park acreage remains Covering an area smaller than 1/3rd inch squared /year !

In the 1920s Oakdale was home to one of the largest aircraft manufacturers in the world, Convair Aviation. The city reached its peak popularity in the 1940s and 1950s as a result of World War II manufacturing jobs that diverted away from non-defense industries such as agriculture. However, Oakdale began to decline during the 1970s as population growth outstripped economic development opportunities. Today, Oakdale is a small community with dwindling commercial interests and limited access to public services.
Oakdale was founded in 1851 by George and Anna Oakdale. The town was named for oak trees that were found near the original site of the town. It became a city in 1916. In 1950, it merged with neighboring Sleepy Hollow to form the new city of Diamond Bar. The merger caused Oakdale's population to decrease from around 10,000 in 1950 to 4,500 by 1970.
