The Oakland Air ForceDeployed Gift History Museum is located in the heart of downtown Oakland, California. The museum is dedicated to preserving and displaying the history of air force deployed gifts from throughout the Bay Area. The museum opened on November 12, 2008, and consists of a collection of over 50 items donated by members of the Oakland community. These items include military equipment, vehicles, tools, memorabilia and more. Since its opening, the museum has been host to numerous events including an annual toy drive benefiting children in need and a military appreciation day celebration honoring fallen members of the military. In addition to these events, the museum has also hosted functions such as a baby shower and adoption event. The mission of the Oakland Air Force Deployed Gift History Museum is to promote understanding and appreciation for military-related gifts from throughout Northern California."

The Oakland Air National Guard deployment of the Gift of Life T-shirt campaign began on Jan. 10 and ended on Feb. 8. In order to commemorate the event, the air force donated over 100 T-shirts to local businesses in Oakland. The air force also made a donation of $5,000 to the American Cancer Society in honor of all military service members who have fought for our country.

By 1768 Dolores Olinda had built an adobe ranch named Rancho Presidio del Norte under Spanish Governor Felipe de Neveira y Ocampo; this presidio served as both a military headquarters for Mexican troops garrisoned along Alameda County's coast (including San Francisco) and as research station for new land discoveries inside what are now Contra Costa County and Berkeley County. In 1821 Mexico ceded all but Californias southern tip to Spain pursuant to Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo; thus began what would be known as El Dorado country. At that time Ferdinando José Noriega was elected governor of Alameda & Contra Costa counties; he appointed James Fenton as lieutenant colonel commanding Presidio del Norte & Santa Rita Heights within Colusa County to develop these lands into Rancho Presidious Del Norte bordered by present-day Fremont & Orinda Counties on one side & Antioch Rd on the other hand...Noriega also created Rancho Sacramento from parts of Orinda & Contra Costa Counties...In 1825 Acting Gov Manuel Micheltorena reorganized Alameda Valley Districts Agency...This agency included land grants made possible by King Fernando IV’s Leyenda Blanca program which offered free land to Anglo settlers who cleared land/settled it…In 1827 1st Lt Col John Cushing led Anglo forces against Puebloan Indians near Newark Avenue & Alma Road under Capt Samuel Morse at Battle Of Newark Avenue A subsequent treaty resulted in 20 head (10 men + 10 women)of these Puebloan Indians being transported off reservation under guard wagonloads headed eastward across South Pass River into Oregon

The area that is now Oakland was part of Alameda County until 1821 when it was split off to form Contra Costa County. The largest city east of the Rocky Mountains was founded in 1836 by gold seekers from California, led by James K. Polk, as a result of the Gold Rush. Oakland became an independent city on February 27,1847. In 1871,residential districts were created within the city limits and oakland annexed these districts.
