When the United States Air Force activated its first air force in 1947, it was not a conventional organization. The USAF had been formed as an experimental branch of the National Security League, a group of patriotic Americans who believed that America could never be secure without a well-functioning aviation system. In 1941, President Franklin D. Roosevelt had ordered the creation of theAAF and called for an expansion of military aviation to meet national security threats. By 1947, American Airlines was the only U.S.-based airline with flying rights in all fifty states; however, no one wanted to buy tickets or fly on American Airlines because it was considered "theirs". The USAF needed an airplane to give certain generals and other high-ranking officers an aerial view from where they could direct operations from ships at sea or from military installations on land. The Air Force also needed an airplane for general flights over troops and targets within range of bombers. Finally, there were needs for civilian airlines to provide transportation for government officials during wartime aircraft shortages or when enemy action made air travel impossible. The first selection process for acquiring new airplanes was led by Colonel Nathan Fenton Foster, then commander of Western Electric's Aircraft Division in Douglas Aircraft Co.'s Plant No. 3 outside Chicago (now Chicago Midway International Airport). In March 1946 Foster decided that Boeing should win a competition to design a bomber with characteristics similar to those used by Lockheed P-38 Lightning fighters being developed by McDonnell Aircraft Co., which would become Boeing Aeronautical Company (BAE) (later Boeing Company). On April 15th 1946 Major General Curtis LeMay issued orders authorizing procurement of up to ninety Boeing 707 jets instead of any fighter planes desired by the USAF so long as these planes could carry nuclear weapons aboard them! Only two months later on June 1st 1946 BAE received notification from Headquarters Tenth Air Force that they were selected as contractors/manufacturers for this project! On July 25th 1946 General LeMay announced that production would start immediately on behalf of Project Signet! This announcement established BAE as America's premier manufacturer/contractor for jet aircraft development! On October 5th 1948 General Curtis LeMay again announced plans to use nuclear weapons in combat and recommended against using Boeing's 707s because their wings didn't have enough fuel capacity even if bombs were dropped onto them whilethey were still flying! He ordered his commanders-in-chief to purchase more Boeing 747s instead! However, this decision backfired because too many people found out about LeMay's secret order and thus bought into his false prophets' schemes! It wasn't until after September 11th 2001 when George W Bush became president that things changed - finally someone realized what happened before their eyes and took steps to correct it!

Airforce gift history can be traced back to the beginning of World War II. The United States Air Force was formed in 1947 as a result of the Truman Executive Order 9091. At its inception, the USAF consisted of only 7 squadrons, all of which were stationed at bases in Colorado and Texas. The first type of air-to-air missiles were created during World War II by Boeing and Lockheed Aircraft Corporation. These devices were called “Tallboy” missiles, and they were fired from airplanes or tanks. However, these earliest types of missiles did not have any serious military applications. In 1951, General Curtis LeMay became Director of the USAF Rocket Lab Division. This division was responsible for developing ballistic missile programs that would eventually become the USAF nuclear arsenal. In 1957, President Dwight D Eisenhower signed an executive order creating Special Forces Groups (SFOs) within the USAF to support conventional warfare operations in Southeast Asia and South Korea. The SFOs played a significant role in both wars and remain oneof America’s favorite wartime memories today! In 1961, Lieutenant Colonel John Fritsch assumed command of 4th Tactical Fighter Wing at Seymour Johnson AFB in North Carolina after his predecessor resigned due to health concerns related to exposure to Agent Orange while serving with US Army Delta Force in Vietnam! As commander of this wing, Fritsch led Operation Innocence (the first strategic bombing campaign against Cambodia), which helped end that country’s civil war! Furthermore, he also directed Operation Neptune Spear (the largest aerial offensive ever mounted against North Korea), which destroyed over 70% of their nuclear weapons capacity! In addition to his accomplishments as Commander 4th Tactical Fighter Wing at Seymour Johnson AFB during the early 1960s – including being selected as an Airman Of The Year by USAFE magazine – Colonel Fritsch also commanded two fighter wings: Republic F-4E Phantom jets deployed into Southeast Asia from Thailand under combat controller Major General John W Clark III; and Republic F-105 Thunderchief jets flying day/night missions over North Vietnam from Andersen AB near Guam under combat controllers Major General Leonard E Hamer Jr., Jr., and BrigadierGeneral Don A Shultz
