The 1st TFW flew escorted missions over Japan from 1947 until 1951 when they were transferred to Okinawa where they operated from bases until 1957 when they moved back to Japan for deployments during the Korean War before returning home in 1959. In 1965, they became part of III Bomber Command and served asbasis at RAF Mildenhall where they conducted operations against North Vietnam until 1973 when their last mission took place over Cambodia during Operation Neptune’s Spear. They returned home and re-deployed with I Bomber Command stationed at Greenville AFB South Carolina from 1974 until 1978 before becoming part of V Bomber Command which patrolled nuclear targets in Europe from 1979 until 1990 including Operation Just Cause which led to Florida statehood that year. From 1992 through 1994,they served as transient unit stationed at Al Udeid AB Qatar before moving back stateside permanently in 1995 under phaseout of USAF strategic forces program effective 01 September1995]. The first mayor of Oakley was Mrs. Mary Jane Stephenson who served from 1912-1915 and then again from 1917-1920 On February 7, 1916 Mayor Rufus Fenton granted land to Mrs Alice Eaton for a new Public School which became known as Claremont High School today . On November 3rd 1915 (the day after Thanksgiving) Claremont High School played its first football game against Northridge High School resulting in a 12-0 victory for Claremont HS
