The California Air National Guard's 185th Bomb Wing, which is located in Oceanside, has been deploying gift history since 1959. The wing provides aerial refueling and combat support for Operation Desert Storm in 1991. It also flew into Baghdad in 2003 to provide humanitarian assistance following the September 11 terrorist attacks. Aircraft flown by the wing include the Boeing E-3 Sentry AWACS, the McDonnell Douglas MD-81D Starliner and the Lockheed Martin F-35B Lightning II fighter jets. These planes are used for surveillance, airlift and ground support missions. Gift history between the California Air National Guard and United States military forces goes back to World War I when a detachment of California Aero Squadron members served with American Expeditionary Forces in France. After hostilities ended, many of these men returned home and started flying planes for their own state militias. In 1937, the State of California acquired its first plane – an old Curtiss JN-4D Jenny – and began providing aircraft services to local law enforcement agencies. It wasn't until 1959 that an appropriation was made for a permanent unit within the state air guard; this unit would become known as "The 184th Bomb Wing". As time went on, more airplanes were purchased from other states and countries; eventually including six P-47 Thunderbolt fighters from Great Britain's RAF Station High Wycombe during World War II. During peacetime, The 184th Bomb Wing operated out of McClellan Army Air Field (CAAF) in Stockton before moving to Oceanside in 1946 as part of General George Custer's Seventh United StatesArmy Command Bomber Group stationed at Japan's Self Defense Ground Force training base at Koshien. In 1957, The 184th Bomb Wing moved again when it was redesignated as "The 183rd Bomb Wing" under USAF command; this change took place due to growing concerns over Soviet bomber operations against US soil during Cold War times. In 1961–1962, three McDonnell Douglas MD-80E jetliners were delivered to The 183rd BW after being refurbished by McDonnell Aircraft Co., Inc.; these aircraft would be used for flyovers during San Diego Padres' games at Petco Park during spring training that year. From 1968 until 1992, four McDonnell Douglas DC-9s were also delivered while being renovated by someone else altogether! In 1990–1991 two Beechcraft Bonanza turboprops arrived from COVIDI Aircraft Services Ltd.; they would be used primarily for taxiing onto or leaving runway 18L/R at CAF Victorville so larger jets could land without having their takeoffs cancelled! This particular mission served as a reminder that not all gifts sent through air force deployments are immediately associated with military service – sometimes these gifts can go years or even decades untouched! For example, one recent gift history story involves two Humvees donated by Mike & Sue Dooley of Vista del Lago Estates who live just outside of Oceanside along Route 299; these vehicles have sat unused inside the airport ever since!

The city of Oceanside, California is located on the southern coast of San Diego County and was founded in 1887. The city has a population of over 100,000 residents and is the largest inland city on the San Diego Peninsula. Oceanside's economy depends upon its location as an important port for freight and passenger shipping, as well as its hosting of numerous businesses and cultural institutions. Today, Oceanside is a thriving center for retail, tourism, education, healthcare, and research. Oceanside was first settled by Native Americans in the area that now includes the city. In 1887, Captain John Sutter founded what would become Oceanside after he discovered land that may have been part of the site where Monterey had been set up two years earlier. The town was named after Captain Sutter's daughter Ocean Beach because it lay at the mouth ofOcean Creek. In 1915, when World War I began, sailors from nearby Naval Station San Diego brought food to starving Marines stationed at Guadalcanal in Australia. American troops landed on Guam in December 1941 to help stop Japan from invading North America; however, they soon found out that ammunition shortages existed on Guam and needed supplies from mainland America to fight against Japan. Consequently, many local businesses opened up to provide goods necessary for American troops during World War II: shoeshine stores were among those that picked up business during this time period; candy stores became popular with soldiers who wanted to keep their sugar fix while away from home; ice cream parlors served troops throughout the war; bakeries made bread for troops' messes; etcetera (although most grocery store owners closed shop during wartime). After World War II ended in 1945, many people left Oceanside for various reasons: some chose not to return home because they found post-war life too difficult or dangerous; other GI's returned home but instead started their own families; some veterans decided that living off government support wasn't living like they wanted it to be (they formed their own communities outside of cities). However, others decided to stay in Oceanside because they felt comfortable within its community atmosphere and saw potential there for growth outside of traditional job opportunities available back then (e.g., small business ownership). However much has changed since 1945 – both physically and socially – so it’s hard to say exactly how much has stayed constant since then when discussing topics such as economic development or gentrification – though there are certainly several examples which bear mentioning here given recent trends across all areas of coastal California due primarilyto global forces rather than anything innate about these particular locals or regionally specific dynamics (i.e., sea level changes/flooding events). From 1952-1955, gifts were sent directly to AF personnel serving in Korea throughOperation Good Neighbor I and Good Neighbor II. Oceanside is a city located on the San Diego coast in San Diego County, California. The population of Oceanside was 95,567 as of 2010. It is part of the San Diego Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first human habitation in present-day Oceanside was reported by Captain John L. Stevens in 1824 during his survey of the region for Rancho Yuma del Norte. At that time there were only two small villages near Point Loma and those were about 12 miles (19 km) away from where Oceanside now stands. The first permanent resident in what is now Oceanside was Lorenzo de Peralta who arrived with his family in 1792 after suffering shipwreck off the coast of Mexico City. He named his new land Rancho Peralta which means "Place of Peraltas". De Peralta's heirs sold portions of their holdings to other pioneers over time including Don Pedro Menéndez and José María Salinas y Gómez who founded Mission San Juan Capistrano (now Cathedral Church). In 1846, following Mexican independence from Spain, American settlers began flowing into California seeking opportunities and they came to know about this new land on the east coast called "The Land That Was Owned By Natives" because it had been unclaimed since before Spanish times. Most Americans at this time lived along the southern border of what is now OC County so they did not explore much inland until later when gold Rush fever brought more people to these parts and then more businesses developed here which made Oceanside increasingly profitable become an industrial center based on shipbuilding, fishing, textiles and other maritime activities as well as residential areas including several blocks around Broadway Street between First Avenue North and Second Avenue North (later renamed Harbor Boulevard). In 1848 local residents Josiah Holland and Alfred Thayer organized what became known as Chinatowns in various parts of town with Japanese people living collectively near wharves while Anglo-Americans built homes closer to central business districts such as Sixth Street between Market Square East and Seventh Streets South. However by 1870 all but one block south up Third Avenue had been taken up by Anglo housing developments with commercial afloat only a few blocks north along Fourth Ave which still functioned primarily as a military base during World War II before becoming commercial again throughout most of the postwar period characterized by dense development around 5th Ave fromMission Bayou down to Harbor Boulevard . In 1930 an act led by Mayor Barton Doherty provided for incorporation within OC County but no change occurred until 1959 when then-Governor Pat Brown signed legislation creating Oceanview Borough resulting in significant waves OF white flight paralleling suburban growth across Orange County culminating with incorporation within IrvineCounty circa 1990 despite protests from some residents accustomed to separate government control over their cultural enclave .
