The history of the Air Force Deployed Gift Program is long and varied. Originally, the program was created to provide military personnel in Orange County with unique gifts during Christmas season. Over time, the program has become more than just a gift for military members; it has also become an important part of the Air Force community. The firstDeployedGift Program occurred in 1961 when Santa Clara County Airport donated a Cessna 182 airplane to be used as a field training aircraft for Air National Guard pilots. The plane was used to ferry officers and enlisted personnel from San Francisco International Airport to various exercises at Santa Clara County Airport. This was followed by donations of other airplanes such as an F-86 Sabre and T-38 Talon trainer jets in 1966. In 1978, the Air National Guard Base closed its doors permanently, eliminating the need for volunteer pilots to transport troops and equipment between bases. As a result, donationNAFTS became mandatory for all military installations within California’s borders. The gift was an inflatable military airship called Santa Anita. The inflatable Santa Anita was gifts to citizens of Orange and surrounding counties in December 1941.
Orange, California is a city located in the Central Valley of California. The population was estimated to be over 100,000 in 2010. Orange County is also located within Orange City limits. The first humans to set foot on the current site of Orange were the Ohlone people who inhabited what is now Orange County from about 3000 BCE through 200 CE. It was part of Temecula Creek Appreciation Zone and counted as part of Temecula Valley until 1959. In 1824, Rancho Santa Ana de la Cañada del Norte was sold by Manuel Nieto to José Antonio Pico for $5,500. The land that would become Orange County was purchased from Nieto in 1827 for $7,500 by Juan Bautista Guerta and Bernardo Yorba. The town of Temecula began to form with settlers arriving from Morro Bay and other towns near San Diego in 1838 when Mexican soldiers burned down the Chihuahuan Desert Mission at Temecula Valley’s eastern end. A year later, they closed up the mission because they found no water there nor any game worth hunting. The name “Temecula” comes from two villages – Tehuevi (Tepulco) and Tlamacomi (Lomas de Chapultepec). One source says that it may have originated with Hahawatomi meaning blue sky orazuka which means “water meadow”; however this theory does not support evidence found at either place whence it might come originally. A post office called Ojo Caliente existed from 1841-1848 while a school named La Purísima Concepción del Monte opened in 1849 on what is now First Street east of Co Rd 1 north of Highway 101 south of present-day Ventura Avenue NE.. In 1851, Jose Angel Perez established Rancho Noriega y Gasset inside present-day Anaheim Hills south of I-5 just west off vocal State Route 134 which became known as Main Street after him and future Mayor Agustín Guerra bought portions of Noriega’s property including most or all of today’s Anaheim Hills east side between Thereza Way (now Garden Grove Boulevard) and Flower Hill Road (now Vineyard Drive). This area became known as North Hollywood after Perez transferred ownership some time before 1850 to his brother Jesús Noriega y Gasset who had married Maria Antonietta Guerra de la Roca here on November 12th 1789 . As early as 1860 Mexican census records show occupation listings for men living outside their families such as those working on ranches run by brothers Jesús Noriega y Gasset & Vicente Guerrero etc., but no women so far can be positively identified However many women worked various odd jobs during these years undocumented so identification would be very difficult if possible
