The Coast Guard has been providing security and support to the community since 1796. In Orange, California on December 12, 1879, the first Coast Guard station was established at Point Conception. The Station was later moved to its present location on Signal Hill in 1922. The Coast Guard Station played a significant role in helping to keep Orange County safe during World War II. In 1965, the Commandant of the Coast Guard transferred from the Navy to the Coast Guard which continues to play an important role in our community today.
