The California Coast Guard has been providing essential law enforcement and emergency services along the state's coastline for more than 100 years. Throughout World War II, coastal communities across California depended on the Coast Guard for their safety both during aerial bombing raids and combat deployments offshore. After World War II ended, coastal communities continued to rely on the Coast Guard for assistance with boating security measures such as keeping watch over warships moored in ports or patrolling against smuggling operations ashore. A major expansion project occurred between 1957-1960 when a new Headquarters Building was constructed at Lands End buoy near Half Moon Bay; this addition enabled CG jurisdiction over much of Sonoma County including Orinda and Napa Valley as well as parts of Friends Lake District including Walnut Creek and Atherton). During this time period, many new technologies were developed such as radar technology which helped identify vessels operating in areas beyond our current shoreline boundaries- This information then aided in developing better lifesaving procedures such as tracking down missing individuals who had gone overboard while ashore or illegal immigrants attempting to enter U.S.-owned property illegally! In 1961-1962 another Headquarters Building was constructed at Morro Bay; this addition enabled CG jurisdiction over much of Marin County including Petaluma/Pleasanton/Fremont/Bodega Bay waterfront neighborhoods plus parts of Sausalito/Daly City/Oakland

In recent decades there has been significant growth again due to new development adjacent to Interstate 5;the current population stands at 2,500 according to 2014 estimates orinda experiences characteristics typical of rural America such as poverty and high levels of educational attainment among its residents which help contribute towards strong economic prospects throughout society
