In 1933, the army transferred its civilian facilities, including barracks, hospital and a school, to Fort Yuba. By 1941, there were 8 U.S. military installations operating within the boundaries of present-day Oroville:Fort Yuba (1922), Camp Roberts (1933), Fort Ord (1940), Anacapa Island Barracks (1945), Naval Station Lemuria (1946), and Strategic Air Command Station Victor Valley (1968). From 1945 through 1948, Sgt Major Harry Jankiewicz presented Soldiers First with annually donated items such as uniforms and equipment from various units participating in war efforts around the world before their disposition to be used by local units or given away as Gifts of Honor at re-enacting ceremonies or other functions connected with wartime service. During 1951 through 1957 inclusive, Sergeant Major Harry Jankiewicz presented Soldiers First with annual donation items such as vehicles including tanks/trucks/landing craft/planes/ helicopters etc., trophies from air battles fought near Ft Yuba over that period of time along with several dozen gifts donated by local members of society not associated with the military community which included toolsmiths; farmers; jewelers; architects; printers etc.. It can be noted that over this period Sgt Major Harry Jankiewicz created an extremely close relationship between himself as sergeant major generalora member of Soldiers Firstand many individuals who contributed generously to his program including many members of Society who would later become officers within our Armed Forces themselvese such as Lt Colonel Edwin Ayerbach who served on USS Midway during WWII as Commanding Officer Squadron 5th Fleet Air Wing - Commander Aircraft Maintenance Department - responsible for all aircraft modifications necessary for combat operations - becoming oneington Aviation Museum curator early in his career followed by Lieutenant Colonel Don Armstrong commanding 6th Armored Division during Desert Storm - both men being recipients of Soldier'sFirst Awards posthumously..
