The Coast Guard has been a part of the community in Oxnard, California for over ninety years. The first coast guard post in Oxnard was established on December 3, 1892. At that time, it was known as the “ Marine Station at Rio Linda” and operated out of a small shack on Main Street. Today, the current Coast Guard station is located on State Route 101 North in the town of Oxnard. The Coast Guard has played an important role in safeguarding our region since its establishment. From providing search and rescue services during natural disasters such as earthquakes or hurricanes, to monitoring Channel Islands waters for smugglers and illegal immigrants, the Coast Guard has always played a critical role in keeping our communities safe andSecure. In recent years, the Coast Guard has made significant advancements within its mission by expanding its patrols into new areas including water safety initiatives such as installing lifejackets and other lifesaving equipment for boaters; increasing access to marine fuels throughout Ventura County; taking action against human trafficking through Operation Crossroads;and conducting annual fisheries surveys which help identify potential fishing opportunities for coastal communities across California. Today, there are more than 6500 active duty members who work together to keep our community safe while ensuring that everyone can enjoy its many outdoor activities – from fishing to swimming to hiking – without fear of global warming or other environmental threats. Oxnard is located on the east coast of Santa Barbara County and is bounded by Malibu to the south and west, Carlsbad to the north and east, and Oceanside to the northwest. The City of Oxnard was founded in 1876 by brothers George and James Oxnard. The first post office opened in 1877. The original town site was on a bluff overlooking both Pacific Ocean and Ventura Harbor. In 1915, Oxnard annexed part of neighboring Carlsbad; this annexation caused the split of Ventura County into two parts which remain today as separate municipalities: Carlsbad to the north and oxnard to the south. The city has experienced rapid growth since its incorporation as an incorporated municipality in 1912 - it became one of Southern California's "rural uprisings" during that decade-and-a-half as farm hands flocked to cities for jobs in manufacturing or service sectors (the area now known as Downtown Oxnard had not yet been developed). By 2000, when Hollywood became interested in building a new studio complex onOXNARD land just northeast of downtown (renowned then for its riparian ecosystems), local businesses were already making good money catering primarily to movie fans who came down from Los Angeles each weekend for screenings at nearby beaches like Redondo Beach or Hermosa Beach. The Coast Guard was founded on December 5, 1790 as the United States Navy’s first military service. The Coast Guard became a separate branch of the United States military on May 15, 1942 after President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9265 which created the Office of Naval Police and ordered the creation of a coast guard force to protect America’s waterways. The Coast Guards C-130 Hercules transport aircraft were originally designed to provide basic transportation and support for search and rescue operations in open water but were soon used for other purposes such as law enforcement and cargo transport. In Fiscal Year 2016, the Coast Guard transported over 2 million passengers, cargo, and supplies with its fleet of more than 100 ships including 38 NHC Ships.

In 1881, a group of entrepreneurs founded the Oxnard Manufacturing Company in what is now Oxnard. The company started making cigars and cigarettes, but soon became known for its bicycles. In 1903, the company moved to its current location on Redondo Boulevard in Oxnard.
