Company A remained inactive until February 1871 when it reorganized as Platoon D #621st Calvary Volunteers infantry platoon commanded by Captain James Pillsbury [2] arriving from Stockton where he had been an enlisted man since November 6th six weeks earlier after serving as gunner on USS Constitution[3].
