Airforce Gift History in Pacifica, California began in 1942 when the United States Air Force established the 6th Bombardment Wing at MacDill Air Force Base. The wing was organized from elements of the 8th Bombardment Group which had been activated on March 17th, 1941. The 8th BG was assigned to Twelfth Army Group and operated out of Pearl Harbor until December 15th. On that date, the group moved to Japan and attacked Manchuria before returning to the US on January 2nd, 1942. The 8BG continued operations with various wings throughout World War II and into the Korean War. Inactivated on September 1st, 1950. In 1959, when Pacifica AFB reopened after a renovation project it became an interceptor squadron during Tactical Aerospace Command (TAC) structure reorganization which eliminated USAF divisions and units within TACs command structure. On October 25th as part of this reorganization AFB activated F-106 Delta Dagger Interceptors from Republic Aircraft Corporation's San Bernardino County Airport hangar #2A which were being stored at McClellan Air Force Base awaiting transfer to Sacramento National Airport for use by TAC's 935ighth Fighter Wing flying Boeing 707 jet fighters. Withdrawal of these aircraft from McClellan AFB on November 3rd allowed for reactivation of San Bernardino County Airport as USAF airfield #1A . It should be noted that Republic Aircraft Corporation only leased their facility for a few months while they awaited delivery of new planes from Boeing who in turn were also waiting for their new aircraft hangar at McClellan AFB to become available again so they could be redeployed back to Korea with Ninth Wing Boeing 747s! The first operational flights occurred on November 24th when F-106Ds took off from San Bernardino County Airport underwing mounted radar warning devices (Widetron systems), following their arrival from Sacramento National Airport enroute to Jiilin AB in China where they were participating in Operation Golden Slumbers support mission against Japanese forces there! This was followed by another flight two days later involving four Falcons taking off underwing RAF converted Meteorological Radio Service antennas aboard USS Quincy (CV-8) carrying weather information back home about Japanese military movements near Hong Kong! These sorties continued each day providing valuable intelligence that helped save countless lives during World War II! Unfortunately such flights were not without incident as one Falcon crashed into a mountainside shortly after takeoff causing all four pilots death including Commander/Major Loren J Suter who would later become one of America's most popular war heroes thanks to his role leading Allied Forces efforts against Japan during the post-war occupation period! On December 2nd 1945 forty three Falcons provided cover for allied bombers coming over Tokyo duringOperation Atomic Overlord as part of Operation Death Blossom!! Assembling over Japan at Hiroshima airport these birds contributed significantly towards ending World War II !! The townsite was renamed Pacifica in honor of General George Custer who was killed in action during the Mexican–American War two years earlier. In 1911, an American Telephone & Telegraph Company line extending from Menlo Park to Yuma crossed ZIP code 92336 within town boundaries creating what would eventually be known as Silicon Valley; howeverPacifica Avenue remained unnamed until 1935 when its designation changed to East Bay Boulevard in honor of then-Governor Earl Warren’s efforts to improve communications between Los Angeles and San Francisco through AT&T’s new wireline services across northern California On May 2nd 1980, local voters passed Measure M (also known as "The Californization Proposition") which approved plans for a massive shopping mall anchored by Sears/Kmart stores adjacent to Interstate 5 with much of what now makes up downtown Pacifica being built over time including most of PCH Boulevard running through town center On November 6th 1990 City Council members voted 3-2 not to annex any surrounding unincorporated areas making Pacifica an official city

In 2007, KPFA/Pacifica Corporation merged with NPR Broadcasting Company to become NPR Media Services Incorporated.

The city's first post office opened in 1848. Pacifica grew rapidly during the Gold Rush of 1850-1851, when many people came to prospect for gold near the peninsula. In 1861, Pacifica became part of the newly formed Marin County. The city experienced a significant population growth as World War II began and soldiers arrived to fight in Europe and Asia. In 1945, Pacifica hosted US President Harry Truman's farewell speech from Air Force One before he left for Japan. The war provided new opportunities for economic development and increased housing costs; however, some residents felt that too muchgentrification had taken place in the postwar years. In recent years, Pacifica has become known as an environmental leader due to its efforts to reduce energy consumption and promote renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power. In November 2018, Mayor Ed Lee announced that his administration would end subsidies given to large fossil fuel companies which have driven up prices for natural gas while creating jobs across the state economy
